Welcome To The Wrestling Crypt
Smackdown Brand House Show 01/21/06 - Monterrey, Mexico
In the beginning of the event the announcer of Smackdown came out and introduced Theodore R Long. They asked us to rise from out seats and they ran the bell 10 times in honor of Eddie. After that Teddy Long finished with the traditional “Viva La Raza” and the event started.
The first fight was the champion cruiser weight Kid Kash versus Funaki versus Noble Jamie, the fight was acceptable. Kid came out of the ring and got in the face of the “Son of Santo” and ended up winning the encounter and retaining his championship.
Next Paul London and Brian Kendrick gained the upper hand on the Dicks. In this match Road Warrior Animal took it upon himself to help London and Kendrick to gain the victory and soon they invited him to the Ring to show their gratitude to him and when Animal came up he took advantage of their negligence and Animal beat on London and Kendrick.
Boogeyman versus Sylvan - this fight was short and there is not much no to say. Boogeyman invented his dance, poured the worms on Sylvan, applied his hold and won. What was amazing is that this was one of the most applauded for match of the whole night.
WWE Tag Team Champions MNM versus Mexicools - as expected the Mexicools received a good ovation from the public although in the end by cheating MNM won.
In another fight, also quite short, Bobby Lashley beat Orlando Jordan.
Mark Henry versus Rey Mysterio, Rey Mysterio came to the Ring dressed as an Aztec and at the beginning of the fight, shouts of “Eddie! Eddie!” These lasted until shouts of “Batista! Batista! Started ringing out. the fight finished in a disqualification as MNM interfered. The Mexicools came out to defend Rey but he was futile as Mark Henry came out and so did Funaki. Next I heard the music of the Boogeyman and he came out from underneath the Ring and removed from his bag the worms, making Henry and MNM flee from the ring. Rey Mysterio and Boogeyman faced each other and finished Rey starting dancing like Eddie and so did Boogeyman. While in the Ring, Rey invited the Son of Santo, Funaki and the Mexicools up to the ring and they all did a tribute to Eddie and the brought up signs and flags of Mexico to the ring as Eddie’s music played.

Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit won over Randy and Booker T. This fight was somewhat comical since Chris Benoit lived for a while in Monterrey with Chris Jericho. Each time that one of these two appear, the people love them so much they act as if the wrestlers were at home. The people started bothering Randy and Benoit asked for the microphone and told Randy “If you do not understand what the people are saying” Benoit and Angle became animated and the people followed with the chants. The same thing happened to Booker T. This fight was very good and in the end Angle executed the Angle slam and then the ankle Lock and at the same time Benoit executed the cross face and their rivals surrendered to Benoit and Angle at the same time.
Later on the fight but everyone hoped for. After JBL sang America the Beautiful and insulted the Mexican fighters, he continued speaking until the bells tolled and Taker interrupted it. The fight was very good JBL gave a chair shot to Taker but he rose as if nothing had happened and Taker threw JBL into the ring steps. Although Taker received a series of blows, JBL after hitting Taker’s knee on the ring post applied a figure four leg lock. This did not stop Taker from applying a Chockeslam to JBL, followed by a tombstone piledriver to get the 1.2.3, and to make his number one fan from Monterrey crazy in the process. Taker stayed a good while in Ring greeting the public and after a while he left.
