Promises

Chapter 1

Grayce stepped off the small plane, stretching her back and legs.  It had been a long flight,
ending with a two hour flight in a small Cessna from Tahiti to The Island. She looked around
the narrow runway, but for a small hut-like building, it was surrounded by trees and thick
underbrush.

The pilot, carrying her luggage, directed her toward the small building.  Inside there were a
few chairs, a ceiling fan turning slowly and a worn, wooden floor.  In one corner was a desk,
the older man sitting behind it smiled at her.  He waved her over and in a thick accent, asked
for her passport.  When he finished looking at her papers, he told her there would be a car
arriving for her shortly.

She sat in the chair closest to where the pilot left her luggage. It was hot, the fan did nothing
but move the hot air around. She reached into her bag for something to wipe the beads of
sweat from her face.  It was twenty minutes later that she saw a long white limo pull up outside.
Grayce smiled, considering the surrounding, it looked very out of place.

Her luggage was loaded into the trunk, and they started on their way. She would soon be at
the cottage she rented.  For the next four weeks, she would be alone. No bosses, no fiance, no
broken promises.

She looked out the side window, not really seeing.  She thought back over the last year and
her life in general.

Grayce was an orphan.  She spent the first eighteen years of her life in an institution.  She grew to average height,  with sky blue eyes.  Her hair golden blond, as curly and unruly as
when she was a child.  She worked her way through college determined to make something of herself. Grayce graduated with a 4.0 grade point average.  She was hired by a local advertising firm.  She worked hard and the bosses noticed.  She was given promotions, salary increases, making as much, if not more the some of the male executives.

Grayce's personal life though, was nothing to speak of.  The few romances she was involved
in ended quickly.  The men eventually intimidated by her status in the company.  Close friends
were equally as rare.  Debbie, her secretary, was closest too her.  Grayce could talk to her
about personal things.  They spent evenings together just talking when both were "single".

Debbie had announced she had a new boyfriend, she was very secretive about him.  Grayce
had never met him.  She didn't really understand the whole thing.  'Maybe he's married', she
thought.  She stopped asking about him.

Ten months ago, Grayce met Josh.  He was hired to a position just below her.  They would
work together often.  He was of average height, slender, his dark hair neatly rimmed.  Dark,
almost black eyes.  They were attracted to each other.

After working late one night, they had gone out for a late dinner.  From that night on, their
feelings grew stronger.  Eventually Josh asked her to marry him.  Though there were no
fireworks as she had heard of, she said yes.  Wedding plans began immediately.  July fourth
was set as the date.  Grayce would have her fireworks,  one way or the other.  July fourth had
come and gone.

A few days before they were to be married, Grayce, working late one night, came home to
find Josh and Debbie in her bed.  Shocked, she left the room and sat down in the living room.
A few minutes later Josh came walking into the room, Debbie close behind.

"Grayce . . . I can . . . ", Josh started to explain.

"Don't say anything, either of you.  I don't want to hear your excuses.  Get your things and get
out, now!.  ".Grayce stayed calm.  She refused to let them see her cry.

"Grayce, please let me explain,,", Debbie pleaded.

"Leave . . . now", Grayce said in a low controlled tone.  She hasn't spoken to either one since
that night.  She had Debbie transferred to another department.  It was the next day that Josh
was given the promotion Grayce had been promised.  The bosses decided that a man was
needed for the job.  Grayce was devastated by both events.  She told the bosses she would be
taking the six weeks vacation time she was due.  During that time she would decide if she
would be going back to work.  She had handled her money well.  She didn't have to work.

The limo came to a stop, jarring her back to the present. Opening the car door, she thought
the cottage looked very inviting.  She stepped out and took a deep breath of the warm salty
air.

The driver smiled at her, directing her toward the cottage.  He followed her in and showed her
around.  Grayce had a fully stocked pantry and fridge.  He told her that he, Ricci, would be
back in three days to check on her. Grayce thanked him and walked him to the door.

She watched as he drove away. Going back inside, she thought she should unpack.  Instead,
she sat down on the sofa, put her hands over her face and started to cry.

Chapter 2

Glen boarded his plane in New York, trying to relax, he knew it would be a long flight.  His
size made traveling very uncomfortable.  But He was soon lost in thought, no matter how hard
he tried, he couldn't keep the events of the last few months out of his head.

The divorce had been difficult.  He knew things were getting bad, but he never thought it
would come to this. He came home only to be told of her affair with someone who was
supposedly his friend.  It had hurt him terribly.

His job had been a source of arguing between them.  She wanted him to quit.  But, at the time
he still loved what he did.  Now he wasn't so sure.

He had always been a company man.  Doing promotions, autograph signings, Axxess.  He
agreed to do whatever they asked of him.  No matter how it made him look.  He was, after all,
a fun loving guy.  His character was more reserved, but he agreed,' Kane', needed to loosen
up a bit.

They altered his mask to uncover his mouth to make talking, and breathing easier.  Things
seemed to work out fine.  The fans liked it, he liked the freedom it gave him.  It didn't seem to
destroy any of Kane's mystique.  The only problem was no storyline.  He was being paired
with different wrestlers in hopes one partnership might click.  It didn't until he was put with
RVD.  They worked good together.  Till Rob started to suggest he take the mask off completely.
Glen didn't like the idea, the mask was alot of Kane's character.  It kept Kane mysterious.  It
was the only part of the original character that was left.  He let Rob know how he felt, but Rob
went to Vince anyway to pitch the idea.

Vince liked it, he went to the writers and they started planning Kane's unmasking.  They
decided too, that he should cut his hair.  When Glen was told he figured he would still have
enough hair to hide his face a little.  But then they told him he would be shaving his head.  He
told them he didn't like the idea.  If the unmasking wasn't excepted by the fans, he would still
be able to put it back on if he could hide his face a bit.

They disagreed with him.To make it easier for Glen to agree, Vince promised him another title
run.  The odds of him getting the belt this time were in his favor.  Vince promised.  But, as had
happened in the past, things didn't work out.  Triple H wasn't agreeable to giving Glen another
shot.  He wanted to feud with Goldberg.  Goldberg had only been with them for a few months.
It was Glen's sixth year.

Glen was getting tired of being pushed aside for the new guys from the old WCW.  Steiner,
Goldberg, Booker T, even his present partner, Rob Van Dam.  They were all expected to raise
the ratings. Steiner bombed, Booker T was growing more popular, Goldberg's fans had
followed him to the WWE.  Each time Glen was again pushed to the back of the line.  Vince
kept promising him a title reign.  Each time someone new came along.  He had had enough.

He talked things over with Mark.  Glen told him he was thinking of quiting.  Mark suggested he
take some time off.  Think things over, allow himself some time alone.  Time to heal
emotionally.  Time to think about what he wanted.  He told Glen not to make any decisions
now, that he might regret later.  Glen thought about it for a few days.He knew Mark was right.
He made arrangements to take time off.  Five weeks, all to himself.

The white limo pulled up in front of the cottage he rented.  "Pretty fancy", he thought to
himself.  Ricci showed him around before leaving Glen alone.

Glen walked down to the beach, breathing the salty air, watching the waves crash against the
shore.  "Fuck you Vince!", He yelled at no one.

Chapter 3

Grayce strolled along the beach, waves breaking at her feet.  These first few days had been cleansing for her.  She made her decisions.  Now she would enjoy her time here.  The solitude seemed to give her strength.

She sat down in the sand, turning her face toward the sun,the warmth felt good.  A few moments later she heard the sound of an approaching car.  She knew it would be Ricci with her supplies.Grayce followed him inside while he unpacked.  Before he left, she asked, "Ricci, would it be possible to get some fresh, raw clams, and a bottle of champagne?".

" Whatever you wish you may have.I will bring them on my next visit".  He smiled and tipped his worn straw hat, then turned and left.

Grayce decided she would go for a walk.  She had been told it was a small island and nearly impossible to get lost.  She would try to find the waterfall the travel agent mentioned.

Glen woke when he heard knocking on the door.  "Who the hell is that.", he mumbled.

He pulled on a pair of boxers and went to the door.  He saw Ricci through the window and quickly opened the door. "Ricci, how  ya doin?".

"Just fine,I came to restock.  I hope I'm not disturbing you.".

"Not at all", Glen replied, with a smile.  "Food is never a disturbance". Glen helped him unpack.  Before Ricci left, he asked for some special items to be brought on his next visit.

Glen decided to go for a walk,it would be his first real exercise since arriving.  He dressed and left the cottage.  "There suppose to be a lagoon and a waterfall around here ",He whispered to himself.

He set off down the path.  He walked on, taking different paths, listening to the birds.

It wasn't long before he heard the sound of splashing water. As he walked through a stand of trees, the lagoon came in to view.

"Wow, not bad", he said aloud, as he looked around..  He moved to the edge of the water and looked down.  He could see clear to the bottom.  A little smile crossed his lips.  "Nobody else on this island,  I think a little skinny-dipping is in order", he thought to himself.  He quickly undressed and jumped in.  Yelping loudly as his body hit the water, he expected it to be cold.  It was just cool enough to be refreshing.  "Perfect", he thought. He swam around the lagoon then went to the waterfall and stood under it, letting the water run over his naked body.

Grayce followed the paths, going in different directions.  She was sure she would be lost.At one point she stopped to listen, thinking she heard some one yell.  "No one else is here"  ,She told herself,"  It must be some exotic bird".Every path she took was clear of any leaves or branches. She wondered who kept them so clear. She would remember to ask Ricci.

As Grayce came to the end of another path, she started to hear the sound of water.  She continued on as the sound grew louder.  Soon, she could see the top of the waterfall through the trees.  It was hard to tell exactly where it originated, but it really didn't matter.  She was here to enjoy herself, not think.  She could now hear the splashing water.  She walked on till the lagoon came into view.  "How beautiful," she thought.  Looking around, her eyes came to rest on the waterfall.

She stared at the running water. "Either my eyes are playing tricks on me or there's a man standing there", she said aloud.  She moved behind the tree and peered around.   She watched the water run down the man's body, his broad, muscular back, over the roundness of his backside.

Grayce noticed the man start to turn.  She tried to leave quickly but a branch caught in her hair.  She worked quickly to free herself then ran down the path.

As Glen turned to jump into the water,he thought he saw a flash of blond hair against the green of the brush. He pulled himself out of the water, sitting on the bank to dry in the sun.

"I'm suppose to be alone here", He thought.  Glen chuckled.  "It was just your imagination", he told himself.  "It's been awhile since I had a woman," Glen laughed as he got dressed.  He waked back to the cottage not totally convinced that it was his imagination.  He would talk to Ricci about it.  Maybe it was an animal.

Chapter 4

Grayce waited for Ricci to arrive.  She paced the living room, out on to the porch and back again.  She had been told she would be alone, obviously she wasn't.  She wanted an explanation.

Her mind wandered back to the lagoon.  The beautiful surrounding, the waterfall, the naked man.  "Stop Grayce, you've had enough of men", she told herself.  But there he was, water running down that amazing body.  She rolled her eyes and groaned.

She saw Ricci pull up outside and went to meet him.  She started to question him before he was out of the car.

"Ricci . . . I was told I would be alone on this island.  I went to the lagoon, there was a man there.  He was . . . well, never mind.  Please explain why he's here." Grayce stood with her hands on her hips.Trying hard to look upset.

"Yes Ma'am, that would be Mr Jacobs.  We received his request after yours." Ricci went on to explain the man's situation.  "We had hope you would not meet".

"Well . . . I guess I can manage to avoid him", Grayce said softly.

"Yes Ma'am".

Ricci smiled to himself as he drove away.  "We might be successful again", he said.

Glen stretched out on the lounge chair oon the porch.  As usual, his feet hung off the bottom edge.  He sighed and closed his eyes.  He soon heard Ricci's car pull up.  He stood and went to greet him.

"How are you today Mr Jacobs?", Ricci asked.

"I'm fine.  I found the lagoon a couple of days ago" Glen stated.

"Did you enjoy it?".  Ricci knew what was coming next.

"I did. But . . . I swear I saw a woman hiding behind a tree". Glen looked at Ricci.

"Yes Sir.  That would be Ms Williams.  She arrived a day before you.  Also wishing to be alone. She will keep to herself".  Ricci explained a bit of why Grayce was there.

"Well,I think we can manage to avoid each other".  Glen thought a moment, he saw the flash of blond hair.  "Or maybe not", he added softly.

Grayce fixed her dinner and took it out on the porch.  The sunsets here were beautiful. Surprisingly, the thought of sharing it with some one popped into her mind.  She sighed, and went back inside.  She cleaned the kitchen and went to bed.

Glen grilled a steak and fried some potatos for dinner.  When he was done eating, he cleaned up and went outside.  He looked up at the full moon.  He wondered if the woman was doing the same.

"I'll go back to the lagoon tomorrow.", he thought, "Maybe she'll show up again".

As Ricci drove back to the airport,he knew they belonged together.  They would fall in love and marry.  And maybe they would come to live permanently on The Island.  Then his job would be done.

Chapter 5

It was a couple of days later when Glen decide he was going to try to meet the blond hair.  He packed a lunch, 'Enough for two', he thought with a grin.  When everything was ready, he set out for the lagoon. His curiosity had gotten the best of him. If she didn't show up,he decided, he would walk on to the other side of the island.  He could always say he was lost.

He had been alone enough.  He wanted someone to talk to, someone to spend time with.  Hopefully, blond hair had reached that point too.  As he walked, he started thinking this might not be such a good idea.  After all, his luck with women hadn't been to good lately.  There was the divorce.  Then that thing with Amy.  They had gotten carried away with the Kane-Lita storyline. They both realised it was just a physical thing.  Although Glen thought for awhile it might be more.

As he got closer to the lagoon, he could hear the waterfall.  As it came into sight,he smiled.  Luck was on his side today,  There she was, sitting next to a rock, the breeze gently blowing her hair.

Grayce had decided to just stay away from the lagoon.  That way she wouldn't run into the naked guy. But, She could still see the outline of his body in the waterfall.  She rolled her eyes, "Geeze Grayce, knock it off".

Men weren't her strong point.  Josh's face flashed trough her mind. Her eyes stung momentarily.  "No more tears wasted on that jerk," she told herself.

"Maybe I should go back to the lagoon".

"I could use some company.  Whatever happens doesn't matter, "she whispered,  "Once we leave this island,  We'll never see each other again".  She would go.  Anyway, he might not even show up.

She made her way to the lagoon.  She spread out her towel and sat next to a rock, listening carefully so she could heard some one coming.  It was about twenty minutes that she heard a branch break .She stayed calm, resisted the urge to get up and leave.  The only reaction she felt was that little butterfly way down low that insisted on fluttering.  She waited till he came closer.  She turned her head a bit and saw his feet come into view.

Glen sat down next to Grayce.  He smiled and extended he hand.  "Hi,I'm Glen", he told her as she put her hand in his.

"Hello", she hesitated for a moment, "I'm Grayce".

Somewhere off in the distance, Ricci smiled.

Chapter 6

Ricci sat out of sight atop the waterfall. He watched the new couple as they got to know each other.  Glen, obviously the bolder of the two, touched Gracye as often as he could, without being annoying.  Ricci could see Grayce blush at the attention Glen paid her.

He smiled to himself.  They were perfect for each other.  He had chosen well.

"You have beautiful hair", Glen told her.  He ran his hand gently over the unruly blond curls, pulling it back from her face.

"I never liked the curls", Grayce said, looking away from him.  "I was teased mercilessly because of it". She was puzzled.  She had just met this giant of a man and she was sharing things she never talked about.  Not even with Josh, and she had already told Glen about him.  'How long have we been sitting here?', she asked herself.

Glen noticed the puzzled look on her face.  "Are you okay?", he asked.

"Oh, yes.  Do you have the time?."

"No...Why, do you have a date?", he answered with a smile.

Grayce smiled, blushing lightly, "No, it just seems like,,,"

"We've been sitting here forever?", Glen finished.

Ricci watched awhile longer.  He was satisfied.  Things would progress quickly with them.  They would soon know the reason they were brought here. His time here would soon end.  A look of sadness clouded his face.  He stood and walked away.

Glen stood and put his hand out to Grayce, she took it.  He pulled her to her feet, hooking one arm around her waist to steady her.

"This lagoon looks like it would be more fun with two people in it", he said, wisking her up into his arms.  Grayce was stunned at the quick movement.

Glen smiled,'  A wicked smile',she thought.

"Hold your nose!", Glen said, then jumped into the water.

As they surfaced,  Grayce's hair was plastered to her face.  Glen chuckled at the sight.

Grayce giggled, "I should cut this mess!", she said as she tried to clear her face.

Glen covered her hands with his, gently moving them away.He cleared her hair away,  "I don't think you should, it's beautiful".

Their eyes met, Grayce felt if she looked away, she would lose something precious.

Glen thought he saw what he had spent his life looking for.

He put his hands on her back and pulled her close, never looking away.He slid them down, over the swell of her backside to her thighs.  He lifted her till her legs wrapped around his waist.

Grayce wrapped her arms around his neck, "This feels so natural, as if it's supposed to be", she whispered.  Glen nodded.  "Can it be real?", she asked.

Glen hugged her tight against his chest. "I hope so".

They shared their first kiss.  It was gentle at first, but grew more intense.  Grayce's eyes stung with tears, she had never felt so loved.  She broke away for a moment, looking toward the sky.

"Did you hear them?", she asked.

"What?". Glen thought he knew what she meant, but didn't want to sound silly if he were wrong.

"Fireworks!", She said with a smile.

Looking into her eyes again, he said,"I heard them".

Ricci sat in his cabin and smiled, looking up from his book.  He could feel their love for each other, even at a distance.

Chapter 7

They weren't sure how long they had been in the water.  They  had
played, teased, talked, and kissed often.  Time didn't seem important.  But
Glen could feel the breeze growing colder, and stronger.  He looked up
toward the sky to see dark clouds rolling in.
"I think we should head back to the cabin.  It looks like storm is about to hit", He told Grayce.
Grayce noted the word 'cabin' was not said in plural form.  She smiled.
"Mine's closer, we'll go there", Glen continued.  He looked down to
see Grayce smiling.  He felt his face blush slightly.  He had just assumed
they would stay together.
Unless you would rather,,,,", He started, stumbling over his words.
Grayce put her hand on his cheek.  "I would  rather stay with you".
He smiled as he helped her out of the water.  He noticed her shiver
slightly when the wind blew.
He picked up her towel, "Raise your arms", he told her.
He wrapped the towel around her, tucking it in under her arm.. He then
wrapped his towel around her shoulders,
"There, that should keep you warm till we get there".
He picked up his basket and Grayce's bag and they started to the
cabin.  Grayce offered to carry her bag, but Glen  insisted she stay
wrapped inn the towels.
She had never felt such caring from another person.
The wind was getting stronger, holding the basket and bag in one
arm, he pulled Grayce close to him with the other.Glen hurried her
along, reaching his cabin just as the rain started.
They stood on the porch watching the rain,  The wind growing
stronger and colder.  Grayce was mildly surprised at the coldness of the
wind on such a tropical island.  She felt Glen's arm wrap around her, "We better
go in,I think we about to experience a hurricane."
Glen went through the cabin closing windows.  He noticed Grayce had
goose  bumps.   "Would you like to take a hot shower and warm
up?", he asked.
"I'd love a hot shower.  But," Gracye hesitated,  "I have no other
clothes with me".  She blushed lightly.
"Well...I'm sure I have something you could wear", Glen said,  "Though
it might be a little big on you".  He smiled and went to the bedroom to
find her a t-shirt and some sweats.
Glen paused for a moment, looking at the clothes, "She has nothing to
wear and I'm giving her my stuff?", he whispered to himself, "What’s wrong
with me!".
As Grayce showered Glen cooked them some dinner.  He had filet
mignon,roasted potatoes, and a salad.
Outside the winds howled, the rain beat down on the cabin
roof, lightening flashed, glaring through the windows.
Glen pulled the curtains closed, then started the fireplace in the
living room.  It wasn't a real log-burning fireplace, but it was still warm
and inviting.  He excused himself to grab a quick shower.
While he was gone, Grayce found a bottle of wine and two glasses.  She
set them on the coffee table, then curled up on the couch and waited for
Glen.
Glen returned wearing a pair of boxers and a tank style t-shirt.
Grayce's eyes made the trip up and down his body several
times. "Incredible!", She thought to herself.
Glen noticed this as he spread a blanket on the floor in front of the
fireplace.  He knelt down, pouring the wine.
He smiled at Grayce, patting the floor next to him he said, "Join me?".

Chapter 8

Grayce uncurled her legs, sitting on the edge of the sofa.  She looked at Glen, tilting her head to one side.    She hesitated a bit,  'You've come this far Grayce, don't stop now", she told herself.

Glen reached his hand out to her.  She took it as she rose from the sofa.  When she stood, the sweats she was wearing promptly slid down her legs to her ankles.

Grayce started laughing, putting her hands over her face to hide her embarrassment.  Glen tried not to laugh, but couldn't hold it in.  "Well, either they are way to big, or your trying to seduce me!", he said through his laughter.   Grayce stepped out of the sweats and sat down next to him. He pulled her close to him, she hid her face in the hollow of his neck.     As they quieted, Glen reached for the wine glasses. Here," he said, handing Grayce a glass.

"Let's have a toast".   "What are we toasting", Grayce asked.  "Us", he said with a mischievous smile ,"And the subtle art of seduction".    Grayce blushed slightly, smiling.  They cuddled as the finished their wine.

Glen gently kissed her forehead. Grayce looked up into his deep blue eyes. “

You’re beautiful Grayce", he whispered, "We've only known each other for a few hours, but I think . . .no, I know I'm falling in love with you."

He claimed her lips in a passionate kiss.  When he felt himself stir, he pulled away.

"I feel the same way Glen.  I never thought it was possible to fall in love so fast." Grayce's voice shook with emotion as she spoke.

Glen softly caressed her face.  Then, running his hands down her arms to her thighs, he caught the edge of the t-shirt and pulled it up over her head.  Grayce did the same, softly kissing  his chest.  She pushed his boxers down, running her hands over the swell of his backside, feeling his
manhood press against her.

They made love in front of the fire.  Tears ran from Grayce's eyes as Glen took her over the edge for the first time in her life.  Glen shook as he released inside her.

He rolled onto his side, pulling Grayce close.  Their bodies glistening with sweat.  Their breathing started to slow.

Glen was awe-struck by the intense emotion he felt with Grayce. He knew he would do whatever he had to, to keep her in his life . . . forever.    Grayce pressed her head against Glen chest, listening to his heart beat.  She closed her eyes.  At that moment she knew she wouldn't be returning to her job.  Wherever Glen went, she would be with him.  And she would be happy.

They were oblivious to the storm raging outside.  Loose branches and palm fronds pelted the cabin .They never heard the tree that fell just five feet from the cabin.

Ricci paced in his room.  Storms of this strength were rare on The Island.  He hoped Glen and Grayce were safe.

“First thing in the morning", he told himself, he would check on them.  "It's time they knew".

Chapter 9

The next day, Ricci was ready to go early.  He knew what he had to do.  He first would explain to the couple how they were brought together.  Then he would take them back by the landing strip, to the house he shared with Victor.

His eyes clouded over,  Victor was very ill.  Though he had met both Glen and Grayce when they arrived, it had taken all his strength to do so.  He had insisted on being there.  He was as pleased with the couple as Ricci was.  Now they would reveal the reason they were brought to The Island.  He set  out for Glen's cabin.

Glen propped himself up on his elbow.  Looking down at the sleeping Grayce.  He brushed a stray curl from her face.  His lips curled into a smile.

“What's happing here Grayce?", he whispered.  "Such a short time and I know i never want to be without you.  It's almost magical".

Grayce slowly opened her eyes, looking straight into Glen's.  "Did you hear all that?", he asked.

Grayce nodded as she slid her arm around his neck.  "I love you too".

Glen leaned down for a kiss, an  hour later they were showered and fixing breakfast.  They were planning on going to Grayce's cabin for her  things and bring them here.

As they finished eating, they saw Ricci pulling up in the limo.  It was then that they noticed the tree that had fallen the night before.

"Good Day!", Ricci called, "I see you made it through the storm okay".  Glen pulled Grayce close, "What storm?", he joked.  Ricci smiled.  "I wonder, may I take some of your time?", Ricci asked.  "I would like to explain why you are both here".

Glen raised his eyebrows, looking over at Grayce.  "I'd say that statement needs some explaing.  Don't you think so Grayce?".

"Yes I do", Grayce answered.

They sat on the edge of the porch as Ricci started to talk.

“Pleases let me finish before you ask any questions". The couple nodded.

"We have been looking for replacements.  Myself and my companion Victor.  He is very ill.  We must leave The Island.  We have decided You both would be the best people to take over".

"Take over?", Glen started.

Ricci raised his hand.  "Please let me finish."

Gracye squeezed Glen's hand.  He put an arm around her protectively.

Ricci started talking again,  "We have people who watch for us.  When someone comes along that one might think is right, they inform us.  We research their backgrounds.  We receive photos and films on the chosen ones...."

"Film!  What's going on Ricci?!", Glen said angrily.

"All will be made clear Glen, Please?", Ricci pleaded.

"This Island is special.  It was created for people who have become disillusioned with life, love, and other people.  We bring them here hoping to lift their spirits.  To show them that they are worthy, that they can rise above the people that wronged them.  Both of you were in such a situation when you came here."

Ricci smiled, "Now look at the happiness you both have found".

He talked and explained for another half hour.  "I know you must be confused", he stated.

“To say the least", Glen said," You said something about taking over?.

"Yes, perhaps we should go to my home and meet Victor.  There we can answer all your questions". Ricci stood, waving them toward the limo.

"Okay with you Grayce?" Glen asked.

"Yes.  This is all a little frightening", she said, staying close to Glen.

"There is no need to be frightened.  You will be free to chose."

As they rode, they passed the landing strip.  The limo turned down a rode neither of them had noticed when they arrived.  About a mile down ,the trees parted to reveal a house quit a bit larger than the cabins.
