Eternally Edge Written By Lady B

Chapter 1
Edge had been watching Amy for several weeks now and could see that
she
had not totally gotten over him. She walked slowly, with her head
down. He
wanted to go to her and hold her like he used to, but he didn't want
her to
be afraid of him, you see he had been buried 3 weeks ago and he did not
know
how to tell her that he really wasn't dead, that he now walked with the
undead.
When Amy entered her apartment building with her purchases he turned
around and went and sat on the park bench across from her building. He
sat
under a tree whose shadow was cast down on the bench. If you didn't
look
very closely, you couldn't tell that he was there.
As he sat there, his mind started to wander back to the times when he
was
a mortal and they were together. They had known each other ever since
college. They had started going out in their junior year and had been
together ever since. He had stayed with her whenever he was in town
since
his career with the WWF kept him busy and traveling throughout the
world.
They had become engaged the previous year and planned to get married
within
the coming year when he would take a few months off to start their
marriage
off right. He loved her with all his heart and missed her terribly
when he
was away from her. He would call her every night while on the road and
sometimes he would fall asleep right after speaking to her with the
sound of
her voice still ringing in his ears.
While touring Europe with the WWF he had been talked into going to a
club
with Christian, Matt and Jeff Hardy which he didn't really want to go
to.
They had finally convinced him and he had relented and gone. It was
there
that sometime during the evening he had lost sight of the guys in the
huge
crowd that was present and when he went to look for them he somehow
found
himself standing outside of the back entrance to the club in a dark
alley.
He had started walking to the end of the alley so that he could enter
the
club again and look for his buddies to tell them that he was leaving
when
all of a sudden he was grabbed by a pair of strong arms from behind and
before he had a chance to react he felt a piercing pain in his neck..
The
next thing he remembered was waking up in a coffin buried under 6 feet
of
dirt.
He had clawed his way up from the ground and found that it was
nighttime.
He couldn't figure out where he was until he reached the entrance to
the
cemetery. When he looked at the sign he realized that he was back in
the
town where he had lived with Amy and that the tombstone over the grave
site
that he had just escaped from had his name on it. He couldn't
understand
why Amy would let him be buried alive. He had sat in the graveyard for
several hours until he realized that he was hungry. He thought about
going
to the diner which he knew was down the block, but then realized that
he was
hungry, but not for food. He had a craving for something else and
couldn't
figure out what it was. As he sat there contemplating what to do next
his
sense of smell told him that what he craved for was just outside the
cemetery.
He sniffed the air and could smell something. He followed the smell
until
he was on the sidewalk. He looked around and all he could see was a
lone
woman walking very fast down the other side of the street. He did a
complete 160 degree turn and when he was facing the lady again the
scent was
stronger. He hissed without even realizing it and all of a sudden
fangs
appeared in his mouth. His stomach started to growl and his eyes
blazed a
bright red. He couldn't understand what was happening, just that what
he
needed the lady possessed.
All of a sudden what had happened to him hit him like a ton of
bricks. He
turned away from the lady and stumbled back into the dark recesses of
the
cemetery. He leaned against his gravestone and realized that he could
never go back to the life that he knew. That Amy was lost to him
forever
and that his career with the WWF was now over. He punched the
headstone,
putting his fist through it, as tears welled up in his eyes and slowly
ran
down his cheeks. He had not noticed he had punched a hole through the
headstone until he looked at his fist sticking out of the other side.
When
he looked at his hand, the scratches that were there were already
healing.
When he wiped the tears away from his cheeks he noticed that his hand
came
away with blood on them. He knew that if what he had read about
vampires
was true he had to find a dark place to hide before the sun rose, which
would be in 15 minutes. Since he didn't know where else to go, he went
into
one of the crypts that were there. He broke open the lock and went in
just
as the first rays of the sun were rising. He had closed the crypt door
behind him and pushed one of several coffins that were there in front
of the
doors so that they could not be opened. He went to one of the corners,
curled up and instantly fell into a trance like sleep.
The next night he had awaken just as the sun had set and gone to the
apartment building where he and Amy had lived. He found he did not
have his
keys but that wasn't a problem. He turned the knob until it came off
with
ease. He proceeded upstairs and looked in their hiding place over the
door
frame for the spare key. He entered and sighed when he looked all
around at
the things that he had shared with her. He went to the bedroom and saw
that
his clothes were still hanging in the walk-in closet. He pulled out a
pair
of black jeans, black t-shirt, boots and his long black trench coat.
Even
though he couldn't feel the cold, he figured he would blend in better
if he
wore it.
He went into the bathroom, stripped his funeral clothes off and
stepped
into the shower. He couldn't feel the hot water and didn't know it was
steaming until he looked at himself. He noticed his arms had started
to
turn slightly flushed. He washed himself off and dried himself with
his
favorite big fluffy towel which was still hanging on the towel rack.
He was
careful to place it back on the rack as if it hadn't been touched, even
though it was wet. He ran a comb through his hair as he stood there
looking in the mirror. He noticed that he looked slightly pale, but
aside
from that he didn't look any different. His eyes seemed to shine back
at
him and his hair had a luster to it that he had not noticed had been
there
before. He smiled in the mirror and his teeth did not look any
different.
He walked out of the bathroom and dressed in the clothes he had laid
out
on the bed. He did not want to spend too much time in the apartment
since
he knew that Amy would be returning soon. He did not want her to find
him
there. After he was dressed he picked up his wallet which was on the
dresser. He looked inside and saw that his credit cards and his checks
were
still there. He hoped that his accounts had not been closed because he
would need to find a place to stay. He did not want to spend another
night
in the cemetery.
He grabbed a pair of sunglasses and picked up the clothes he had been
wearing and put them in a plastic bag. He placed the spare key in it's
hiding place again as he stepped out of the apartment. He exited the
building and deposited the clothes in one of the garbage cans out on
the
sidewalk.
He walked with a purpose. He knew he had to find a way to reverse
what
had happened to him before it was too late. From his readings he knew
that
he could not feed on human blood, taken from a living body because he
would
never be able to reverse the process then, but it was getting harder
for him
to not feed. The urge was very strong now and he knew that if he
didn't
feed soon he would not have the strength to continue on his quest to
reverse
the process and become human again, and he knew that he wanted that
more
than anything in the world right now, so that he could be with Amy once
again.
