Ok, he was a fairy, not that anyone would EVER call him that, but he was. He dropped his hair and growled. A fairy! A fuckin 7 foot tall fairy. He even had the ears to prove it. What s wrong honey? He heard his mom ask. Nothing. He muttered, looking down at her. Now she looked like a fairy, short, beautiful, wings...Thank God he didn t have wings. He got something good from his human father, everything else was bad, his height, his weight and his hair. His eyes, his beauty, his magic and his mind came from his mother. I gotta go mom. He said, bending almost double to kiss her cheek. Be careful son. She said, biting back a sigh when he disappeared.
Hey Glenn. Terri said as he walked by. Hey. He mumbled, not stopping. He heard her sigh and cringed, all mortal women reacted that way to him. Fairies were beautiful, so beautiful that humans had no control over their emotions. He d learned how to use his looks to get what he wanted, take what he needed and humans had no idea how badly they had been tricked. Fairies love to play tricks on each other and on humans, they had a sense of humor that would make them act quickly to get a laugh out of someone and they didn t care if they tricked you out of your clothes at the same time. Once something was given to a fairy, it could only be taken back by trickery and a fairy was very hard to trick.
He got dressed and grabbed his mask without thinking, he d like to wear it all the time, but he wondered which type of attention was worse, the attention of all the women he passed or the attention he would receive if he walked around in the Kane mask all the time. His fans would hound him to the ground. He sighed and pulled the mask down over his face. He remembered the first time he d went out dressed as Fake Diesel and how security hadn t been able to control the hundreds of girls that ran for the barricades when he d taken off his sunglasses and smiled. He d gotten away, but he didn t dare make a repeat performance.
When Kane had been pitched to him, he d demanded a mask and that was how the story of the scared, horrible figure of a man had been started. He couldn t take his mask off because he was so scared he didn t want to scare anyone. He didn t talk because the humans had noticed the way girls responded to the sound of his musical voice. He d almost perfected a gravelly husky voice and once he got it down, Kane would start speaking. Fairies loved to be the center of attention and he d found that he d wanted that too, something he was vaguely ashamed of, but wanted all the same.
Kane you re up. Rodney said, sticking his head in the dressing room to make sure Glenn heard him. He saw his nod and left, going to get the other two wrestlers in time for their entrance. He got up and walked out the door.
Little shit. He heard. Dickhead. He answered. Mark laughed and said So how s your mom? Glenn grinned under his mask and said Fine. When s she coming to visit? Mark asked smiling at his image of Glenn s mom. Very, very short and the cutest little wings he d ever seen. I don t know, but don t play with her wings this time. Glenn answered. Mark laughed and said Hey, I m sorry. He looked around and then said I d never met a fairy before. Glenn rolled his eyes and Mark said Where are YOUR wings? I don t have any; I m only HALF fairy. Glenn hissed looking around to make sure no one was listening to them. Mark laughed and muttered Fairy boy. Glenn raised one eyebrow, his mask lifted a little and he said I ll remember that the next time you re hard up. Then he walked away, leaving Mark laughing his head off.
Look Tar, that s Kane. Luc said, his eyes glued to the TV screen. Uh huh. She muttered, not bothering to look up, her six year old brother loved wrestling and she loved to indulge him. Tarzanna, LOOK! He said, getting out of the floor and walking over to her. He grabbed her arm and pulled. Tarzanna sighed and looked at the TV. Then she smiled and said There. You happy now? He nodded his head and ran back to his pillow. I love Kane Tar, he s big and bullies never last long around him. Luc said. Tarzanna s eyes raised from the book she d been reading and said Bullies? Have bullies been picking on you Luc? He nodded softly and she bit back a curse. Who? She asked, hiding her anger from him. Donny and Justin. Luc said, his eyes never leaving the screen in front of him. Her eyes narrowed and she hissed both of those boys were we at least 14 years old. She d make a little visit to them in the morning...and make sure that they never bothered her little brother again.
Dear, what s wrong? You re glowing red. Her mother asked as she came into the family room. Nothing, just have some ants to kill. She muttered. Her mother sighed and again wondered why out of all of her family, her daughter was the only one whose emotions glowed around her. When she was angry, a red glow appeared, surrounding her, when she was happy, she had a pink glow, sad brought on a brownish/yellow color. Somehow, Tar had learned to control her emotions, but every once in awhile, she couldn t and the glow would appear. She glowed in her sleep lately; something Margie didn t even think that Tar knew an almost blinding white light surrounded her while she slept. Dinner s almost ready. She said, seeing her husband pull into the driveway.
The next morning, Tarzanna got up early and left home, she hated going out but when it involved her brother, she d sacrifice a little comfort. She walked the three blocks to the street that Donny and Justin lived on, smiling when she saw them waiting on the corner for the bus. She walked up behind them and before either knew what was happening, she had them both on the ground. Hello boys. She hissed, not realizing that her eyes were glowing a dark red. Seeing the fear on their faces, she smiled and said If either of you EVER messes with my little brother AGAIN, I ll happily kill you and feast on your carcasses. Do you understand? She asked softly. Both boys nodded and she let them up. Giving them a smile she walked off, half hoping they would give chase and give her a damn good reason to hurt them, but neither did. She got back home just as Luc was finishing his breakfast. TAR! He yelled, seeing her walk into the living room. He ran over and hugged her asking his usual morning question. Will you take me to school? Tarzanna smiled and dropped a kiss on his cheek. I can t buddy. I ll have mom drive you if you like. She said, brushing his hair back from his forehead. I want you too. He answered, giving her his puppy dog eyes. Luc, you know I don t like to be around a lot of people. Tarzanna said, but Luc cut her off. The doctor said you should get out of the house more. She gave him a rare smile and pushed him gently toward the door. Maybe another day. She said. He nodded and ran outside, hopping on the bus before the doors closed. She looked around and sighed, her little brother had hit to close to home. She didn t like being around other people; they stared at her and made her feel like she was a prized butterfly under a microscope.
She hadn t noticed it until she d hit her teens, she d started high school and all the boys stared at her, all the girls hated her, she couldn t make friends and even the friends she d had before high school wanted nothing to do with her. Soon all the boys were crowded around her, asking her out and touching her. They d all backed away from her when she d started glowing. She hadn t been able to control it, so scared from the attention and the feeling of people touching her; she d been to scared to try to stop it. After that everyone shunned her, picked on her, called her a freak, a witch. She acted like she didn t care but deep down she did. She didn t want ANY kind of attention, but that s all she got. Once she graduated, she d stayed home, doing all her college work at home over the computer and she d graduated from college, via the computer with a master s degree in history.
She d landed a job also via the computer and had written several papers about Greek myth s, Roman myths and now she was working on the myth of witches. She d made good money from selling her articles to magazines and over the computer and she d tried to pay her mom and dad rent, but they wouldn t take it. Her dad was happy she was still at home and her mother loved the fact that she never complained about Luc getting on her nerves or going through her things. Everyone was happy with the way things were. Mom, I m going to work now. Call if you need anything. Tarzanna said, turning and walking into her room.
She loved her room. Her dad had built onto it when he d realized she wasn t going to move out. She had her office in the front, a wall with an archway separated it from her bedroom. Her office was painted a light pink and had white carpet, her bedroom was painted a light blue also with white carpeting and mythical creatures painted on the walls. Gods, Goddess, witches, dragons, vampires, fairies, gargoyles....everything that was mythical was there. She sat at her desk and smiled, seeing the picture that her brother had drawn of Kane, with angel wings and a halo. She took a thumbtack out of her desk and hung it on the wall beside her desk. Other pictures were there, Kane and someone called The Undertaker, a bald man called Stone Cold laying on the ring between them. She shook her head and turned on her computer, getting ready for the day.
TAR, TAR! Luc shouted as he ran through the house. She looked up just in time to see her door fly open and her little brother rushing in. LOOK! He said, holding out his hand and showing her two pieces of paper that looked like tickets. What? She asked, giving him one of her rare smiles. I WON! I won the contest at school and get to go see KANE! He yelled, jumping up and down. She remembered the art contest he d been talking about for weeks, how the winner got two ringside seats for the coming event in their town. You and dad will have a great time. Tarzanna said, rubbing his head. Yeah, daddy loves to yell at Stone Cold. Luc said with a smile. I can t wait to tell him. Luc ran out of the room and she heard him yelling for their mother, asking her to please, please call daddy right now. Tarzanna smiled and saved her work, then shut off her computer.
MMMMMOOOOOMMMMM! Glenn wailed, his face turning a bright shade of red as she told Mark yet another childhood tale. Honey, you were so cute. His mom answered, patting his head like he was five and going on with her story. He was so upset that he couldn t fly like his friends, he even went so far as to make his own set of wings. Tink said, her eyes glowing with love for her only child. Mark was laughing, tears rolling down his face as he tried to image Glenn, towering over the other fairy children and climbing a tree, flapping his arms and trying to fly. It s not that funny, Mark. Glenn hissed. Mark laughed harder, drawing in deep breaths of air trying to calm down. He fell flat on his face. I felt so sorry for him, but he didn t give up. He climbed right back up that tree and tried again. Tink said. So when did it finally sink into his thick head that he couldn t fly? Mark asked, his breathing somewhat under control. He broke his arm on the third try. He gave up after that. Tink said, grinning at Glenn. He rolled his eyes and said Mother, please, enough with the stories. She ignored him and said But imagine his friend s surprise when they tried to fly one day and couldn t lift off the ground. Someone had poured salt on their wings. Tink said, giving Glenn the same look she d given him the day her friends had come pounding on her door. Imagine. Glenn said, biting back his smile. I know you did it son, I just don t know how. Tink said softly. I don t know what you re talking about. Glenn said, taking a bite of his steak. Tink just pursed her lips and nodded softly.
They finished their dinner and the talk returned to normal things, their jobs, their lives, Mark s many girlfriends and Glenn s lack of one. Honey, that reminds me, Malasa will have her coming out this weekend. You will be there to claim her, RIGHT? His mother asked. No. Glenn said softly, waiting for the explosion he knew was coming. What do you mean no? Tink asked as she lifted out of her seat and floated toward him. I m not going to claim her. Glenn said. Yes you are. Tink said. Mother, Malasa and I have discussed this and we have no feelings for each other, she s in love with Gar and he is going to claim her. Glenn answered. She became yours when you tricked her out of her virginity. She is YOURS. Tink said. I don t want her. Glenn answered back, standing swiftly and walking out of the room. Tink followed and said I think this is what you need, a partner to help you. Glenn whirled and cut her off. I don t need her. I don t love her and I m not claiming her. Son, don t make my mistake. I went after your father, knowing he was a human because I thought I loved him, it s an emotion that fades... Tink started, but Glenn shook his head. He died. He couldn t live as long as you.
Tink sighed but didn t shatter his image of his father. His father had loved her, but she grew tried of him before Glenn was ever born, after he made his appearance, she s stayed with his father because she wanted Glenn to get to know him. When she could take no more of him, she d sent him back to his world, knowing he would age quickly and soon die. She could feel no remorse for what she d done, but she knew that Glenn still missed his dad. Fairies took what they wanted and when they got tired of it, they threw it away. Son, just think about it. Tink said turning and floated back into the kitchen. Glenn stopped himself from growling and then followed her.
PLEASE TAR! Luc cried, throwing himself down at her feet kicking his legs. Honey.. She started but he looked up, his big eyes filled with tears. Tar please, daddy can t take me and mom is going with him. I really wanna go see Kane. Luc whimpered. Closing her eyes she sighed and said Ok. With a squeal, he jumped out of the floor and threw himself into her arms. THANK YOU TAR! I LOVE YOU! He yelled then ran out of the room, yelling for his mom and dad. How in the hell am I going to get through this? She asked herself. She d be leaving the house, be around hundreds, thousands of people. Could she keep her cool, could she handle it? All she knew was she had to try for her brother.
They got to the arena and walked to the doors, waiting on them to open, she keep her eyes on the ground, not looking at anyone, hoping that they weren t looking at her. Tar, look. That s a limo. Luc said, pointing at the big shinny black car as it drove by. Yes honey. She answered automatically, trying to keep her fear at bay. Finally the doors opened and they were led to their seats. She sat down and pulled out a book, opening it, she lost herself in the pages, blocking out the screams and chants of the surrounding people as their favorites came and left the ring. TAR, it s Kane. Luc yelled, jerking on her arm and causing her to drop her book. Yes, honey. She answered, bending to pick up the book and find her page.
Man did you see that girl out there? She was READING a book. Albert said, walking up to Glenn. Maybe you re not her favorite wrestler. Glenn said with a laugh. Man, I don t think she even likes wrestling. She never glanced up or took her eyes off the pages of that book she s reading. Albert said. Glenn grinned and said Fifty bucks says I can make her look up. You re on. Albert said with a laugh.
Kane walked down the ramp and spotted the girl immediately. She had her nose in the book and didn t even jump when the flames rose out of the ring posts. Narrowing his eyes, he jumped out of the ring and met Angle coming around from the side. He knocked Angle over the barrier, almost into the girl s lap and still she didn t look up, just moved her feet and turned a page. He climbed over the barrier and picked Angle up, throwing him back toward the ring and then he leaned down and jerked the book from her hand. Snapping it closed he grinned as she gasped and then stood up. His eyes widened and it seemed as time stood still as he slowly lifted his ungloved hand and pushed her hair back from her ear. His fingertip ran over the small point and she sucked in a huge breath of air. She was fairy. He couldn t believe it. He looked at the small boy beside her and he was puzzled when he saw the boy didn t have any points on his ears. Before he could ask her name, Angle grabbed him around the neck and jerked him over the barrier, bringing him back to where he was and what he was supposed to be doing.
TAR! Kane touched you. Luc yelled, jumping up from his seat and wrapping his arms around her waist. Kane likes you. He said with a huge grin. Tarzanna sat down heavily, when he d touched her ear, she d felt a strong urge to wrap herself around him and never let go. She d taken great pains to hide her ears, she couldn t understand the point on the tops of them and they were so sensitive. She remembered screaming when her mother used to wash her ears, the feelings scared her and she didn t want anyone to touch them. She d only worn her hair up one time and the other kids had teased her unmercifully. She vaguely felt Luc climb in her lap and lean against her, watching the rest of the match as she tried to get her feeling under control.
