THREE GLADIATORS
Written By Lady Cat
Chap. 7
When they got to the villa, the guys changed out of their bloodied gear
and
went in to the sauna. It felt good to relax.
"Man, I am sore. Did you notice those women sitting by the Emperor?
Who
were they?" asked Eugenius.
"From what I have heard, they're vestial virgins from the temple of
Venus,"
said Carus.
"Why do they wear hoods?"
"Nobody is to see what they look like. When they go out, they cover
themselves up and ride in a covered van. You would think they would
want to
show themselves."
"Maybe they're ugly," Marcus said with a sneer.
The guys were getting a rubdown from a masseuse they had just hired.
Marcus thought it had been sometime since he had been with anyone. He
was
getting in the mood after seeing the women at the spectacle. He
wondered
what they did look like underneath. Maybe they actually were ugly.
Then
his mind turned back to when he was younger, when he saw a young girl
rush
in and hug his former master's neck. He hadn't forgotten the way she
had
smiled at him, nor the color of her eyes. He had found himself
thinking of
her, often wondering what she was like now. He couldn't remember her
name,
but he would always remember her eyes.
Carus saw Marcus was deep in thought.
"What are you thinking about now?"
Marcus looked at him. "Nothing in particular. What I feel like doing
is
having a bit of fun. Let's go where we went the last time. They're
always
willing."
With that the guys dressed and went to an inn not too far from there,
where
the wine was a bit watered down, but the serving girls were always
willing
for an extra coin.
Diana was thinking about the spectacle that afternoon, and the three
gladiators who had entered the arena. The last one looked very
familiar,
as if she had met him somewhere before. Faustina was talking about
something and asked Diana what she thought about it. Diana just looked
at
her. "What are you talking about?"
"What's wrong with you? Ever since we came back you've been lost.
Could
it be you saw something you liked?" Faustina asked with a wicked grin.
Julia snickered. "Perhaps one of the gladiators?"
Diana stuck her tongue out at them, then went back to her thoughts.
Marcus laid there. She had been comely enough, but he wasn't
satisfied.
His thoughts again going back to long ago. He couldn't get them out of
his
mind. He got up and dressed, paying the girl for her time even though
she
hadn't been able to bring him relief. He walked out of the inn into
the
cool night. He was soon back at the villa, tired but still unable to
sleep. He heard footsteps behind him. He recognized them. Carus and
Eugenius were walking to catch up with him.
"This makes the third time you've done this. You sure there's nothing
wrong with you?" asked Carus.
"Guess I didn't really feel like it tonight."
"This time try to be more quiet. I'm tired and want to sleep for a
change," said Carus.
He and Eugenius went in, leaving Marcus by the gate, looking at the
moon.
