Betty reported to work at 2:00 p.m. She was wearing Jeans, a tee shirt, construction boots and her tool belt. She was wearing a baseball cap turned backwards to contain her hair which reached halfway down her back.
She went into Vince McMahon's office to introduce herself and find out if there were any new sets or stunts that she would have to prepare for and to get the floor plans for Madison Square Garden so that she could review them before she arrived there.
Vince greeted her and welcomed her aboard. He told her that there would be no new stunts for tonight=s show, but that he wanted her to make sure that the entrance ramp was secure, because several of the wrestlers had complained that it was coming loose in several areas.
She told him not to worry about it that she would take care of it and that she was grateful that he had given her the opportunity to work with such a great organization and that he would not regret having hired a woman to do this job.
She left his office with the floor plans in hand. She opened them and started looking at them while she was walking to the entrance to the arena. She was so engrossed in reading the floor plans that she did not notice that someone was coming in the opposite direction. Next thing she knew she was on her butt on the floor. She felt as if she had crashed into a wall. "Who the heck put that wall up there .... " she started to say as she looked up. What she saw was this enormous tattooed arm coming down towards her. She looked upon the most handsome face and the most gorgeous green eyes that she had ever seen.
When she realized who he was, she was speechless. "Are you alright?" he asked as he grabbed her hand to help her up. "I tried to sidestep you, but you were coming so fast that I could not get out of your way." "I.. I..I'm okay" she stammered. "Here let me help you up" said the Undertaker. When she felt his hand engulf hers electric shocks jumped up and down her arm. Goose flesh ran all along her body. Betty was so embarrassed and speechless that she just could not find anything to say. "Are you sure that you=re okay?" "Yeah, I guess so. I wasn=t looking where I was going, I'm sorry for having bumped into you". "Don't mention it. It is not everyday that I have a beautiful woman fall over me." said the Taker laughing.
"Hey, are you new? I have never seen you around before." asked the Taker. "I just took over the Construction Chief=s position and I was on my way to check on the ramp." answered Betty. "Well, let me introduce myself, my name is the Undertaker, but my friends call me Taker". "It's great to meet you, but I have to go to work now." With that she started walking away. "Hey, what=s your name?" asked the UT. "Betty" she called over her shoulder. As she walked away, she felt as if he were staring at her. She turned around to look at him one more time and he just looked at her, waved and walked away.
Betty could not believe that she had just met the man of her dreams. She was in such a state of shock that she thought that she would pass out. She sat on the floor next to the ramp to try to compose herself before her crew arrived. She thought to herself "Storm will never believe that on my first day at work I meet him and don=t even know what to say. I must be the dumbest person around to let such an opportunity go by. Oh well, hopefully I will see him again and maybe my tongue won=t get all tied then. I better call Storm now before it gets any later and let her know what has happened."
Betty found a phone and called Storm at work. "You will never know what just happened to me." said Betty into the phone. "What, come on, don=t keep me in suspense." "Well I was coming out of Vince's office and I ran into the Undertaker, and I mean ran into him literally". You have got to be kidding, what happened". "Well I was reading the floor plans and not looking where I was going and crashed right into him." "You lucky dog, what did you guys talk about?" "You know me, I get tongue tied right away and could not even open my mouth to apologize. I acted so dumb and just walked away from him." "No you didn't." Yes I did and now I could kick myself for it." "Don=t worry, you will have other opportunities to talk to him, remember you guys work at the same place. Just don't forget about me." "I promise I won't, I will see what I can do about getting you to meet Kane soon. Listen Storm, I have to go,
my crew is arriving and I have much work to do. I will call you soon."
Betty walked over to the crew=s room and knocked on the door before entering. All the guys that were in there looked at her as she entered. One of them said, "This must be the new Chief." "Hi guys, my name is Betty and I am the new Chief, just don't call me that. I am easy to get along with, but I expect you guys to do as I say and do the job right. Remember these wrestlers depend on us and I don't want any of them getting hurt because of us not doing our job properly." With that she told the crew to follow her and they went about fixing the ramp.
