Welcome To The Wrestling Crypt - Lady B's Mankind Experience

Lady B's Experience With Mick Foley

Philadelphia Auto Show on 2/3/2000

On Thursday, February 3, 2000 I went to see Mankind (Mick Foley) at the Philadelphia Auto Show. It was a question and answer session. Below is an excerpt of some of the questions that were asked of him.

Question - Do you like the Hardy's?

Mick - The question is do you like the Hardy's? Yeah. I have two things that I know on my conscience make me a good person you want to know what they are? The first is, I knew that little Joe C. guy about 6 years ago before he was ever a rock and roll star . . . . you know the guy I'm talking about? He is the black guy with Kid Rock and the second is I put the Hardy's in my ‘Three Faces of Foley' video back when they hadn't won a single match. So I asked them to be part of the video because I thought that they were great wrestlers who really loved this sport and had a great future and so I just hope they don't forget it. But no, I think they're great, I really do.

Question - Mr. Mankind why where you fired?

Mick - Oh, Um, you know what when I was fired, so many people said when are you coming back to wrestling, didn't anybody notice that I was actually on every single show that was aired. No really, I was at Universal Studios beating up the fake Mankind. I truly enjoyed my firing.

Question - How are you planning to get revenge on Triple H?

Mick - As I told a young man I'm trying to be a positive role model and the media doesn't portray me as a positive role model. So I'm not going to get revenge, I'm going to forgive him completely. Or maybe what I'll do is just beat the hell out of him and then I'll pray for forgiveness.

Question - With all your injuries, when you wake up in the morning what hurts?

Mick - I think it'd be a lot easier to list the things that don't hurt. Usually my knees are by far the worst. It used to be my lower back, but my back has been pretty good. Really, it's just my knees that are really, really bothering me in the past year or so.

Question - Mr. Foley, out of all the matches you've had who do you think your toughest opponent is?

Mick - My toughest opponent? The Rock? Let me see. Probably three guys who are the toughest. Terry Funk, The Undertaker and Crash Holly. We do think of tough guys as beating the hell out of somebody else. It takes a tough guy to take a beating back. So when I was fighting Vader it was almost exclusively me getting beaten up. So I can't include him in that exclusive list. Maybe Terry Funk, because he took every bit as much as he got and he gave . . . he was 50 years old when he was doing it. So I would say it was him probably.

Question - Mick is it hard to be a wrestler and is there any schools around here?

Mick - How old are you?

Question - Sixteen.

Mick - Yeah, you are probably a little young to be doing that. You know, the best thing you could do is get a decent education and then try it, Okay? So that's all. There are thousands of guys who want to wrestle, and who are trying to wrestle, and there is really only like 100 good wrestling jobs so if you go into wrestling you are definitely going to get beaten up and broken down. I just want to make sure you are not beaten up, broken down and uneducated also.

Mick Foley is a very nice person and he went out of his way to answer all the questions posed to him. He joked around a lot especially about Al Snow and made the half hour question and answer session very enjoyable. He is another wrestler that has not let his fame go to his head and advocates getting an education highly. He is very down to earth. He was very pleasant at the end and shook hands with almost everyone since no autographs were being signed. He even posed at times when he saw someone with a camera so that people could take pictures.
