Book 3 Chapter 4
A month passed. No news. Mark was at the edge of his patience. The waiting and hoping were driving him crazy and he began snapping ateverybody. Finally it was more than anyone could stand. Frank took him outside. "I think it's time for you to go back."
"Go back! What the hell good would that do!"
"For one thing, it would give us a break. You've done nothing but snap at everyone here. And quite frankly, I'm sick and tired of it. I'm just as concerned as you are, but all the ranting and raving you're doing is driving everybody away. Whether you realize it or not, even Mara is starting to get tired of it."
Mark sat on the porch and looked at the ground. He took a couple of deep breaths. "Am I really that bad?"
"Why don't you go inside and ask. Son, for the sake of everyone's sanity, go back. You need to be busy. And I'm sure Mr. McMahon would appreciate it." Frank patted him on the back and went inside.
Mara came out and sat beside him. "Am I getting to be as bad as what dad said? Have I really been a monster?" Mark asked.
"Yes, Mark. I know you're worried about the boys. So am I. But you can't let it drive you crazy. You're acting exactly like her. That's not helping any. All we can do is hope and wait."
"Dad said I was driving everyone away. Was I doing it to you?"
"I wouldn't say driving me away. I just felt it would be best to leave you alone till you could calm down."
"I'm sorry," he said, taking her hand. "I owe everyone an apology."
"I'm sure they understand."
They went back inside. Everyone was in the living room. Mark entered. "I'm sorry everybody."
"It's okay, Pard. But you did have me worried there for a minute."
"Dad, I'm going to take your advice. It's time to go back to work."
"We'll keep you informed if any news should come up."
Mark called Vince that night and said he and Glen would be there for the next RAW.
"It will be good to have you two back. I'll have the writers get the storyline going."
Later that night, Mark asked Mara to go with him.
"Do you think I should? Mr. McMahon might not like it."
"A lot of the wrestlers' wives and girlfriends travel along. He won't mind. I know Glen is talking Judi into going."
"Okay, if you say so. It will be exciting to watch it from back stage."
The next day Frank took them to the airport. He assured them that as soon as they heard anything he would call them.
