Good Morning Beautiful
(Todd Cerney/Zach Lyle)
Chorus:
Good Morning, Beautiful
How was your night?
Mine was wonderful with you by my side
When I open my eyes to see your sweet face,
it's a good morning, beautiful day!
I couldn't see the light
Didn't know day from night
I had no reason to care
But since you came along
I can face the dawn,
'Cause I know you'll be there.
(Repeat Chorus)
I never worry if it's raining outside
'Cause in here with you,
The sun always shines!
(Repeat Chorus)
Yeah, Good Morning Beautiful Day...Good Morning Beautiful... It's a beautiful day...Good Morning Beautiful...Good morning...Good Morning Beautiful.. What a beautiful day...Good Morning Beautiful!
I wake up slowly, squinting against the sunlight from the open window. I can fell your hands on my waist holding tightly, like I might disappear.
My eyes open marginally to see your head resting near mine. Your hair covering most of your face; you’re still sound asleep. GOD you look so beautiful. I remember the first time I told you that. You looked shocked, and then you flushed in embarrassment.
I gently move a few stray strands of hair from your cheek, running my finger across it. I run my finger down your cheek slowly to your jaw and rest it on your chin, just under your lips. The one’s that always kiss the pain away; soft and so full of love. I lean over and kiss them softly, careful not to wake you just yet.
I love looking at you. I never get tired of it. I find myself just watching you when you’re in the room. Just the way you walk into a room is sexy. I feel you stir slightly and wrap your arms around me tighter. I lay still not wanting to wake you. I don’t want to start the day just yet. Don’t want to share you with the world just yet. Don’t want to share you with the people that need your attention during the day.
No matter how busy our days get, I just have to look up and see you there to know everything’s okay. That when the day is over - when people stop demanding our attention - that we’ll be alone together and shut everyone out.
I remember when you came into my life. I remember the day you found me; hurt to the point of numb from betrayal. How you made all the pain go away. How my heart felt so complete the first time you kissed me. I wonder how just your touch could make me quiver. I wonder what I did in whatever life to deserve a love like yours. I thank my lucky stars every night and remember to tell you every morning of how happy you make me.
"What are you thinking about?"
I smile when I hear your voice near my ear. I lift my head slowly and push your hair behind your ear. Only to have to jerk back startled and reach for your mask.
"Nooooooo." I whine softly. "Don’t." I ask, grabbing your hand. "Kane, don’t."
I pout watching you try to turn away. I place my hands on each side of your face. "What are you doing?" I ask. You look at me thinking the question ridiculous.
"You shouldn’t have to see . . ." Kane protested softly. I take the mask from your hand and throw it over your shoulder to the floor.
"Jalena!"
I lean forward, kissing the pale pin scar along your forehead. Moving slightly, I then kiss the one just above your jaw.
"See what?" I ask. "The love in your eyes when you look at me. The smile that only I get to see?"
"But the . . ." "I see how beautiful you are. And only I get to see it."
"You’re amazing." Kane whispered, pulling me closer to kiss my lips softly. "Only because of you." I answer, my lips still pressed to yours. "Good morning beautiful."
