Power Struggle

Chapter 32
The staff at the academy waited in the gym for the arrival of the trainees.
Betty looked at
her watch. Any minute they would be entering through the gym door.
The door opened and five entered.
“There’s supposed to be six,” Jade observed. “Sable’s not with them,”
Betty said. “I suppose she’ll come, as they say, fashionably late.”
“That’s one strike against her already,” Judi added. Betty went over and
greeted the arrivals and had them sit in front of the ring. She handed them
each a paper which outlined their schedule. She was in the middle of going
over the schedule when Sable lazily strolled through the door. Betty noticed
her from the corner of her eye but kept on going. When she was through she had
Judi take them to their dorm rooms, emphasizing training would begin bright and
early the next morning. As for their meals, arrangements were made with a small
café a block down the street. As there were no questions, she dismissed them and
told them to get themselves settle.
Judi escorted the girls to their rooms. Sable went over to where Betty and Jade were talking. The girls ignored her at first. Sable finally cleared her throat and dropped her bag. “Doesn’t anyone notice I’m standing here?”
The girls stopped and turned as if just now noticing her. “May we help you?” Betty asked. Sable peered closely at them for a bit, finally recognizing who they were. She took a deep breath, thinking angrily that cow did it again. “It’s about damn time you saw me!” she responded angrily. “I’m one of the trainees,” she said snottily.
Betty looked at the list. “Oh, yes, you’re Sable. Well, you’re late. I’ve already given out the schedule and explained the rules to the others who showed up on time,” emphasizing the last two words.
“I’m not going to stand here and explain the rules all over again. You’ll have to have one of the others explain it to you as I have other things to do. There is one thing I will stress. >You will do exactly as you are told – no ifs, ands, or buts.”
Sable went to say something but kept it to herself. Picking up her bag, she went to look for the dorm rooms. On her way out of the gym, she bumped into Judi. “Where are the damn rooms?” she snipped.
“Don’t get snippy with me!” Judi replied. “If you had bothered to show up on time, I would have shown you. You can find them yourself.”
Sable’s lips set in a grim line. “Oohh!!!” Sable stormed off toward some steps. “I hope you get lost,” Judi whispered.
Betty and Jade were finishing up when Judi came over. “Miss Thing was in a good mood,” Judi grinned. “I don’t believe I helped it any.”
“Ten weeks of that everyday and I’ll hit the bottle for sure,” Jade said. “Don’t pay any attention to her. Just know that we can do with her whatever we like,” Betty smirked.“Well, my idea didn’t work.” “What idea?” Judi asked, then remembered.“Oh, that idea.”
“Yeah. Blabbermouth told her. They’ll be passing through here in a couple of weeks.I’ll make him pay for that.”“Well, you knew not to meddle,” Jade said, shaking her head.“I know. But she needs to have a little push.”
“Nash called me last night. He said Mark had been at the party but stayed only long enough to drink a beer and leave. He added that ever since she got back she talks as little to him as she can.” “There has to be something we can do,” Judi said.
“Right now, we’ll just have to leave it to chance.”
Chapter 33
Betty knew that ten weeks was not enough to get them trained and pushed the group as far as she could. The first three weeks were spent in aerobic training, weight lifting, and roadwork. The group was exhausted every day, but none complained, except for Sable, who was the oldest of the group. By the fourth week, the schedule changed to workouts in the mornings, with the afternoons being their training sessions, which were run by Jade, Holly and Snow. As with any beginner, they demonstrated the basic falls, coming off the ropes, and how to fall to the mat. After the sessions, the trainees would go to their dorm rooms aching and bruised,
even Sable hadn't realized just how out of practice she had been. Of course, Jade, being the little devil she was, assigned Sable to Holly, who was tough and relentless, no matter who it was. After two weeks of it, Sable decided this was too much and tried to sweet talk Holly into going easy on her.
Holly stood there listening to her as she rubbed herself against him, promising she would do anything he wanted if he would just go easy on her. Jade caught her. "Is she bothering you?"
she asked Holly. "Not at all," he replied. Sable clinched her fists and stormed to her room, red faced. Sable sat on the bed and fumed. The man hadn't moved, flinched or anything despite her best efforts. "The man is either made of stone or he just doesn't care for women," she thought angrily. There had to be a way to get out of there. It was just too convenient
that she was at a place which was run by that cow's friends. Maybe she could get them to kick her out.
Sessions in the afternoon started around 1:30 and lasted till 6 or 7, depending on what was on the schedule. The trainees, except for Sable, had left to shower and then grab a bite to eat. Jade had gone to the office to talk to Betty about the next day's agenda. Judi was in the gym making sure things were put away and set up for the next day. Sable saw this was her
chance. She would pick a fight with Judi, rough her up, thus they would have to kick her out.
Judi was talking to Holly and Snow about a couple of things when Sable came over. "Hey, just what do you do here?"
Judi turned. "Who are you talking to?"
"You. Just what do you do here? All I ever see you do is walk around doing nothing."
"I do plenty, it's just that you don't see me do it," Judi replied in a calm tone, and turned back to Holly and Snow.
"Have you ever wrestled before?"
"What?"
"Have you ever wrestled before?"
"No," Judi shook her head.
Sable thought to herself this is it. "If I worked here, I would take every opportunity to have someone teach me."
"What makes you think I haven't?"
"Look at you. Your ugly, out of shape, and frankly, too stupid-looking. How you got a date to the party I'll never figure out. You're just like your friend, nothing could help you."
Judi's temper had just about had enough. She slapped Sable across the mouth, knocking her to the floor. Holly and Snow stood there quiet for a bit. Then Snow motioned he was going to get Betty and slipped out. Sable sat on the floor, a drop of blood coming from the corner of her mouth. "You were saying?" Judi sneered.
Sable wiped the blood from her mouth and got up. "That was a lucky slap. I bet you couldn't do it in the ring."
"Want a match?" Judi asked.
Holly leaned with his arms crossed against the wall. There was no way he was going to get in the middle of this. Besides, little did anyone know that he had given some pointers to Judi when things were slow.
Sable went to the ring and got in. Judi followed right behind. Just as she had cleared the ropes, Sable began pounding Judi with forearm smashes. Judi pushed Sable as hard as she could, giving her time to get herself together. Sable rushed at her. Judi stepped to the side and gave Sable a push into the ropes, and then back tossed her to the mat.
Betty and Jade came in the gym with Snow just as Sable had hit the mat. Betty went to stop it but Jade shook her head. "The bitch deserves whatever she gets. And if there's any left over,
I want a piece of her as well."
"Just where did she learn that?" Betty asked in surprise.
"I taught her," Holly replied. "When things were quiet, I would give her a few pointers on wrestling."
"Well, I can't let this continue, no matter what Linda said." Betty went over and rang the bell. "Okay, you two. That's enough." Both combatants stopped.
"Now. What started all this?"
"Miss Thing comes up and starts asking just what I did here. Then she asks if I had ever wrestled before. To which she added that I was too ugly, out of shape, wondering how I ever got a date for the party, and that just like my friend, nothing would help me. That's when
the fight was on."
Betty guessed that Sable was wanting out of here judging from the report Jade had given her on how Sable would be complaining. "Normally, I would dismiss the student immediately, but in this case, since the student purposely started this, I believe a more fitting punishment is due, say cleaning the bathrooms and showers, plus sweeping and straightening the gym
when training is through until I see fit to say otherwise. That's all."
Judi got out of the ring and went to the office, sure that Betty would chew her out. Sable ground her teeth and walked out to her room.
Chapter 34
Phoenix nearly fell out of her chair laughing when Betty told her what happened. "Who would have ever thought," Phoenix said after she had gained some control. 'I hope you didn't chew Judi out."
"No, I didn't. Given the situation there was no way I could. I was wondering when she would try something."
"I'm not surprised either. In the short time I've been here I've heard and seen enough to know he would do anything to either get what she wants or get out of it. Thanks for putting up with her. You all get a big raise for that."
"Everyone will appreciate that. But having to cleaning the bathrooms and showers, plus the gym everyday has kept her pretty much in line for the time being," Betty said, then hesitated.
"There's something else too. Holly caught her trying to break into the office. When I questioned her the next day, she didn't say a word. I gave her three more weeks of
cleaning detail. It's a good thing we had taken all your stuff to your house."
"She is determined," Phoenix said. "Keep me posted."
Phoenix sat back in her chair after hanging up and closed her eyes. For the past couple of weeks she had been getting headaches and nothing was helping at the moment. Her run in with Lesnar and now this didn't help any. She rubbed her temples and took a deep breath. She looked at her desk to see the latest script the writers had come up with. She was
skeptical, and in truth, so was Linda, but having Bischoff playing the manager had proven good at the house shows, now it would go to RAW. "Let's hope the idiot doesn't take it seriously," she thought to herself.
Sable sat on the bed looking at her hands and once beautifully manicured nails. Three weeks of cleaning the baths and showers, plus straightening the gym out everyday after the sessions hadn't helped her attitude. She cursed herself for getting caught the night before for trying to break into the office. "That damn Holly!" she fumed. "Because of him, I have to clean
for three more weeks." Her cell phone rang.
"Yeah!"
"It's me, Paul."
"Hell, where have you been? Got any news?"
"No."
"What!" she hissed. "What the fuckin' hell is taking you so long?"
"Hey, it takes time."
"Time is what I don't have. I want it and now!"
"Just keep your pants on, if that's possible. Anyway, even if we do succeed, you know we have Shane to contend with."
"He won't give you any problems. I happen to know that he and Linda had a big argument about how Phoenix has been doing and walked out."
"When did this happen?" Heyman asked.
"Just before I got here."
"Isn't that just a bit too convenient? Just be careful. He is a McMahon."
"I'm being careful. Now, when are you going to get me out of here."
Heyman snickered. "Too much for you?"
Sable recounted the events and the result. The next thing she heard was Heyman laughing in her ear. "This isn't funny! I'm tired of this place and want out now!"
"I don't know," he said. "If you leave, you'd be violating the agreement you made, which could get you suspended. Then what would you do? How much time have you got left?"
"Another three weeks," she moaned.
"Just stick it out. By that time I should have the information and then we can start the ball rolling on this."
Heyman sneered as he hung up. He already had the information Sable was waiting on, and had known about Linda and Shane for quite a while. If things worked out as he planned, Sable would be literally begging him, Bischoff would be gone, Phoenix would be gone
also, and Linda would be nothing more than a figure head.
Chapter 35
“Has she lost her fuckin’ mind?!” Mark looked at Glen in surprise. “Since when can she trust Bischoff?”
“I’m just as surprised as you,” Glen replied. “And from what I’ve heard, it was Linda herself that gave the go ahead.”
“I find that even harder to believe,” Mark rolled his eyes. Of course, he wasn’t the only one. Most of the locker room had reacted much the same way. Bischoff couldn’t have been more ecstatic. “But remember,” Phoenix warned. “I’ll kabash the whole thing immediately if you even so much as change one little iota. Understand?” Bischoff only half heard the warning
as he left the office.
Heyman was very surprised when Bischoff told him at one of their so-called “meetings”. He never thought Linda, of all people, would give the go ahead for the script. As Bischoff when on and on, Heyman thought this just might work to his advantage.
Trips had snorted upon hearing the news. But he knew in his dealings with Bischoff that he was mousy and easy to manipulate. He sneered thinking this would be to his advantage as it would make Phoenix look stupid and he would gain just a bit of revenge against her, and
Bischoff would be the patsy.
In another part of the arena, someone was already plotting on how to use Bischoff against Phoenix for even daring to put his push on hold. He also thought this would work against a certain other wrestler as well. He picked up his cell phone and dialed.
The headache hadn’t subsided any and Phoenix decided to take a break by going to a café not far from the arena to relax. She was almost out the door when she heard her name called. She turned to see it was Mark.
“I may be out of line here, but have you and Linda gone fuckin’ nuts?” he asked.
“I take it you’re talking about the new script. No, Linda and I have not, although to tell the truth I do have some doubts about it myself. But he has been warned that it is for show only and what the consequences will be if he screws up.”
“I rather doubt if he heard you,” Mark said. “Several others in the locker room agree with me. You could end up having more problems than you have now.”
“I know, but I have it under control.”
“If you say so,” he said.
Phoenix turned to go. “I’m not through yet,” he said.
“What is it?”
“We need to talk concerning you and me.”
“Not now, Mark. I have a headache and I need to get away from here for a while,” she told him and left him standing there.
Chapter 36
Mark came in the locker room frustrated and began mumbling to himself. Dwayne, Glen and Kevin were checking their bags as they were leaving after the show to spend a 4-day weekend
with their girls. They paid no attention at first to Mark as he always mumbled to himself when he was upset.
"I can't understand it!" he said aloud.
Dwayne turned. "Understand what?"
"That woman! I wanted to talk to her about us. About why all of a sudden she's giving me the cold shoulder, but she claimed she had a headache and had to go. Sheesh!"
Nash chuckled. "I thought women did that when they weren't in the mood in bed." Dwayne and Glen chuckled as well. Mark eyed the three of them. "Very funny. I don't get her at all.
Claiming to have a headache. Of all the bullshit!"
"The way he's talking, I believe, guys, she may have gotten under his skin," Glen said, nodding at Mark.
"Nooo!" Dwayne grinned. "Couldn't be that, could it?"
"Nah," Nash grinned, shaking his head. "Couldn't be that."
"Oh, the hell with all of you!" Mark walked out of the locker room, slamming the door as they laughed.
Betty had just stepped out of the shower when the door bell rang. Hurrying, she put her robe on and answered. The next thing she knew she was being picked up in a big hug. "MMMM, you smell good," Dwayne whispered in her ear and carried her inside.
"Put me down, please," she said. Dwayne put her down but kept his arms around her. "It's about time you got here."
'Babe, the Rock is always on time."
"What are you waiting for? Kiss me, dammit!"
Dwayne covered her lips in a searing kiss, leaving her breathless when they finally parted. "Are you hungry?" she asked softly.
"Yeah, baby," he replied huskily, untying her robe. "For you."
A few blocks away, Nash and Jade were already getting "reacquainted." When they had calmed down, Nash held her close to him, kissing passionately. Once again their passions rose. Sweaty and panting, they cuddled close again. "Baby, that was good," he whispered as he licked her ear, going on to her neck. Jade giggled. "That tickles." Nash kept on. "Shouldn't we rest for a bit?" she moaned. He replied, "We're just getting started."
Across town, Judi had just given Glen a late snack, if you call a whole chicken dinner a snack. She watched in amazement as he hungrily wolfed it down. "Damn, that was good, he sat back and stretched.
"Don't they ever feed you?"
"Not always. Sometimes we buy our own and then its usually junk food."
"Do you have room for dessert?"
Glen tilted his head to the side and pulled her into his lap. "I'm looking at it," he said, and kissed her while unbuttoning her blouse. She moaned as he caressed her breasts. "We need to be more comfortable," he said, and picked her up and carried her to her room.
