I could'nt help but smile at her reaction. I took the phone and said
hello,his deep sexy voice greeted me. "How are you?,"he asked,"I wanted
to call and let you know I arrived safe."
"I'm fine",I said,"Glad you made it there safe and sound,how are you
feeling,the trip did'nt tire you out to much,did it?"
There was silence for a few seconds,and then he said,"What's wrong?.You
don't sound good .Are you sick now?.Have you been crying?.What is
it,tell me, what's wrong!". "Slow down Mark,I'm okay,I'm having my turn
with the flu,that's all.And no,I have'nt been crying".
I was'nt going to let him know how upset I really was.I could see Mary
out of the corner of my eye,whispering,"Tell him!" I kept shaking my
head no,which only succeeded in making my headache worse.
"Mark,I'm really okay,right now I just need to get some sleep.Mary will
be here if I need anything"
Mary stood there,folded her arms across her chest,and shook her head
no.
All I could do was give her a "look".
At the same time I heard Mark saying,"I'm coming back". "No,you don't
have to do that",I said,"You have to go back to work." "To hell with
work,you need me,I'm coming back to take care of you,And I don't want
to
hear another word out of you.I'll be there as soon as I can.It's only
been 24 hours and I miss you,and I know in my heart you feel the
same,Sooner or later you will stop denying what you feel! I'm coming
back," I could hear a little anger in his voice,or maybe it was
frustration."I meant what I said at the airport",his voice
softened,"And
I intend to prove it to you.Now put your friend on so can tell her
what's going on?".
I was quiet for a moment,tears stinging my eyes again,finally all I
could manage to say was a quiet,almost whispered,"okay". I handed the
phone back to Mary,and buried my face in the pillow. When Mary hung up
she said he would be calling back with his flight information.
"I know you have fallen for this man", Mary said, "Your eyes lit up
when
you knew who it was,why don't you tell him?". "Mary,I don'twant to talk
about it right now,I'm gong to bed". "Well,I'll be right here,he told
me
not to leave until he gets here,oh,and he said he was bringing a
friend".I looked at her,all I could do was shrug my shoulders,"Just
what
I need!".I then went and crawled in bed.
A million thoughts going through my head,what would happen when he got
here,he was coming back!To take care of me,he had'nt forgotten me,and
just how much longer could I deny what I was feeling? I wondered who
his
friend could be,Kane maybe,I tried not to think about it anymore and
drifted off to sleep,
my head pounding worse than ever.
