If you EVER do that to me again, I ll turn you into a TOAD! Talen screamed, getting in Taker s face. How the hell did you get out of the puzzle room? Taker asked, shock written all over his face. I m not stupid, I looked for the hinges on your little hidden door. Talen said, her eyes on fire. Kane chuckled and said Took her an hour. She s very smart brother, I d watch what you do around her. Then before Taker could say anything, Kane disappeared. Leaving the two alone to hash it out or kiss and make up. Taker narrowed his eyes and said You ll do what to me? I ll turn you into a toad. Talen said, narrowing her eyes at him. You wouldn t dare. Taker said. Try me. Talen hissed, turning and marching over to the bed. Taker smiled at her retreating form. He watched her sit on his bed and then, his mouth fell open again when she said.
Come and beg my forgiveness. Talen said, sitting on his bed and crossing her legs, looking down her nose at him. Excuse me? Taker said, not believing what he heard. I said come beg my forgiveness. If you do it nicely, I may forgive you. Talen said, giving him her I m Queen of the world smile. Young one, you need to learn something right now, I beg from no one, you included. Taker hissed. If you don t... Talen started and then closed her mouth, remembering what happened the last time she made a threat. You ll what? Taker asked with a smile. I won t have sex with you. Talen said, giving him a smile of her own. Of course you will, you re my mate. Taker said with a laugh. Doesn t mean I have to sleep with you. Talen said, swinging her foot back and forth. Talen, do not threaten me. Taker said, his temper wearing thin. Oh it s not a threat mate, it s a promise. Talen said softly. No. Taker said. Fine, I ll just roam the castle and choose a room I like. Talen said, standing and walking toward the door. In a sheet? Taker said. I could always go naked. Was Talen s reply as she walked out the door.
Taker opened his mouth and then closed his eyes, muttering a few words, he took a deep breath and walked out, following a few feet behind Talen.
Talen looked down and smiled, seeing a long, shimmering pink dress wrapped around her, like she had the sheet, toga style. She knew that Taker was behind her but she refused to turn or thank him. Let him stew for awhile, he needed to learn that his mate had a mind of her own.
Taker followed her though the castle, watching while she went in one room and then another, before she would turn and walk out, completely ignoring him. She finally stopped, going into an antechamber room with a glass roof, looking up she smiled and twirled in the middle of the room. I ll take this one. She said to herself. Take it where? Taker asked with a smile. She didn t answer him, just walked out the door like he wasn t standing there.
Talen, I asked you a question. Taker said, following her down the hall. Talen still didn t answer and with a growl, Taker stopped her, placing a wall in her path. With a sigh Talen turned and looked at him. Move the wall. Talen said. Answer my question. Taker said, coming to a stop in front of her. I ll answer your question if you promise to move the wall AFTER I give you the answer. Talen said. With a smile. Taker said I promise. I m not taking it anywhere. Talen said, turning toward the wall. Taker opened his mouth to ask another question and groaned as the wall disappeared and Talen walked off.
Talen walked down the hall and turned left, coming to another wall. Move the wall mate. She said, turning to look at him. I didn t put it there, it s been there since the castle was built. Taker said. It wasn t here when I walked down the hall. Talen said, narrowing her eyes at him. You made a wrong turn, you should have gone right instead of left at the last corridor. Taker said, grinning wide. With a sigh, Talen started to move around him but he put his arms up on either side of her, blocking her; the wall at her back and him at her front.
Now what were you going to do with the moon room? Taker asked, dropping little kisses on her neck. Moon room? Talen asked, her eyes drifting shut. The last room you were in. Taker whispered, licking her neck and sucking her earlobe into his mouth. I m making that my room. Talen said, moaning when Taker sucked her earlobe. You have a room, adjacent to mine. Taker said, pressing his body against hers. Talen s eyes popped open and she ducked out from under his arm, walking away from him. I don t want that room. Talen said, knowing Taker was following her. Why not? Taker demanded, grabbing her arm and stopping her. Because it has a door that connects your room to it and no lock on MY side of the door. I don t want you coming into my room anytime you wish. Talen said, pulling her arm away from his and taking the right turn, going around a corner. As my MATE, you can not stop me from going into your room anytime I wish. Taker said from behind her. But you can stop me from going into your room, correct. Talen huffed. Absolutely. Taker huffed back at her. Then I will have the same consideration. Talen said.
You will not, your primary concern is ME, your mate. You will be available to me whenever I have a need of you. Your mother should have taught you this Talen. Taker said, frustration coloring his words. So you don t have to make yourself available to me? What if I have a need of YOU? Talen asked softly. You are my mate, at my command. Women do not have any rights in this world, not even MY mate; they are property. I own you, I can do whatever I want to you or your body at anytime I please. Taker said roughly. Excuse me? Talen said, stopping and turning so fast to face him that he almost ran into her. I can take you in front of everyone here, on the table in the great hall if I wish, and you would allow it. Taker said, trying to get her to understand her new roll.
With a laugh, Talen said But I can t take you in the great hall in front of everyone? I have to give you respect, obey you, be at your beck and call because of this...thing between us and you can t give me the same consideration with your body? Talen asked, her voice rising with her anger. No, I don t even have to look at you until my body demands that we mate. Taker said. FINE! I ll give you THAT consideration then. Talen said, stomping off. TALEN! Taker yelled, his voice bouncing off the walls. Talen kept walking, ignoring his yell and going into the kitchen.
May I have some bread? Talen asked one of the serving girls. The girl turned and gasped, seeing Talen, she dropped to her knees, head bowed. Why are you on the floor? Are you praying? Talen asked, seeing everyone in the kitchen dropping to the floor, heads bowed. They are showing you respect as my mate. Taker said from behind her. Rise. He said in a commanding voice. Talen rolled her eyes and said You don t have to do that every time you see me. The servants looked from her to Taker and Taker smiled, saying Yes they do. Rolling her eyes, Talen again asked May I have some bread? The girl ran off, going to the warming rack and pulling out a fresh baked loaf. What do you want with bread Talen? Taker asked softly, watching as she took the loaf from the young girl. Thank you. Talen said, giving her a smile, missing the looks of shock on the faces of the other servants. To eat. She said to Taker. She walked over to the table in the center of the kitchen and picked up a knife, cutting off a piece of the warm bread. You will eat more than bread. Taker said, feeling her hunger. I ll wait until lunch. I need to go to Earth. Talen said, walking out of the kitchen and eating her bread. You will not! Taker bellowed after her retreating form.
Talen stopped in the hall and turned, looking at him. I would like to see the graves of my family. See if anything was salvaged from the house, let my remaining family know that I m fine. She said, hoping he d understand. As far as any remaining family you have I m sure they assume that you died in the fire also. You will not go back to Earth Talen. I forbid it. Taker said. We shall see mate. Was Talen s whispered reply. I need a few servants to help me clean the room I want and move things into it. Talen said, following Taker into a room on his left. No. Taker said, sitting down at his desk. Fine, I just ask them myself. Talen said, her temper flaring again. I ll behead anyone that tries to help you move your room away from mine. Taker said. With a laugh, Talen said You would not. Don t test me on this mate, I will carry the threat through. You wouldn t dare! Talen said. With raised eyebrows, Taker said, Paul, assemble everyone in the great hall. Talen looked over her shoulder and saw the same man that had been with Taker at her father s party. She watched him nod and walk out.
15 minutes later, Taker and Talen stood in the great hall, all the servants, stable hands, cooks and soldiers; along with Kane and Paul stood before them. This is my mate Talen. If any of you help her move her things from her bedroom to ANY room in this castle, I ll cut off your head. Do I make myself clear? Talen couldn t believe it; her mate was acting like a dictator. She watched as everyone but Kane nodded, fear in their eyes. Dismissed. Taker said, when he d gotten his answer. Everyone went back to what they were doing, wondering what Talen had done to make their master so angry.
I can t believe you would embarrass me that way. Talen hissed at Taker as the servants went back to their business. I m not an easy mate Talen, I ve already told you this. Do not disobey me. Taker said, then he turned and walked off, leaving her standing there.
He fears the power you hold over him. Kane said, standing behind her. Talen turned and laughed, I don t have any power over him. She said. You will learn young one. Kane said. Kane, are you still going to grant me three wishes? Kane smiled and nodded. Good, for my first wish. Talen said, looking over her shoulder I want the moon room cleaned and a bed moved to the center of the room. As you wish. Kane said. Talen looked at him and said How long does it take? It s done. Kane said, walking toward the moon room. Talen followed him a smile on her face.
Why is this room called the moon room? Talen asked, looking at the bed and how clean everything was. Before we were born, this room was built by the Sercons, an ancient cult. No matter how high the sun rises, it never comes though the glass dome, not even when it s overhead. But the moon shines in all night long, no matter where it is in its orbit. Some say this room gravitates with the moon at night. That is so cool. Talen said, looking up and seeing the sun shining on the very top of the dome, but no light came through. She smiled and then sat on the bed saying Now, for my second wish. Kane raised one eyebrow and waited. I wish to know everything there is to know about being a natural witch. As you wish. Kane said, and Talen gasped, feeling her mind grasp the wisdom of magic. Beware young one; a Natural is easily susceptible to evil as well as good. Kane said softly. Talen opened her eyes and Kane grinned, seeing the purple fire in them. My last wish, if you feel like granting another one today. Talen said. Of course. Kane said. I wish to go to Earth, MY earth. Talen said, seeing Kane frown. Then with a sigh, he said As you wish.
Talen heard the sounds of the city, cars rushing by; horns blowing, music blaring, people talking. She looked around and smiled, she was home. She walked the three blocks to her house, stopping at the white picket fence her mouth hanging open. Her house was gone, completely gone. Tears filled her eyes and with a choked sob, she ran toward the only thing left, the swing in the backyard.
TALEN! Taker yelled, feeling her pain. TALEN! He yelled again, running down the halls of the castle looking for her. She s not here brother. Kane said and Taker stopped. Where is she? Taker asked, already knowing. Earth. Kane said, then disappeared. KANE! If anything happens to her, I ll kill you! Taker yelled, disappearing. He reappeared on Earth and closed his ears to the loud noises. He stood for a minute and then turned, following his soul to Talen.
He found her on a swing in a yard, laying on her side. Talen. He whispered, coming up to her. Everything is gone. Talen whispered, looking at the charred ruins where her house use to stand. I know mate, it was a horrible fire. Taker said, picking her up and sitting on the swing, her in his lap. No pictures, none of my mothers jewelry...nothing of my little brother. I have nothing. Talen said, more tears filling her eyes and running down her face. I m very sorry mate. Taker said, letting her vent her grief. I know you are. Talen whispered softly, tightening her arms around his neck. They sat in the swing until Talen whispered, I want to see the graves. Hold on love. Taker said, and they disappeared, reappearing in the graveyard. Taker sat Talen down and groaned, seeing other people. Talen looked around and then she yelled Aunt Mary! She started running toward her aunt, not realizing when Taker changed what she was wearing into jeans and a t-shirt. Looking at himself, he rolled his eyes and instead of his robes, he also had on jeans and a leather vest, adopting the role he used while on earth. With a muttered spell, he waved his hand, a Harley appeared behind him.
TALEN! Her aunt yelled, running toward her, tears falling from her eyes. Oh God Talen, we thought you were in the house. Mary said, grabbing her and hugging her tight. My father came to get me from work, I was spending time with him. Talen said, hugging Mary back. Your father? Your real father? Mary asked, pulling away from Talen. Yes. Talen said. Mary s lips formed a thin line but then she said, Don t you worry kiddo, now that you re home, I ll make sure that nothing ever happens to you. You ll be living with me. Before Talen could answer, Taker said No, she s living with me. Mary looked at him, her mouth dropping open and Talen groaned. Who are you? Mary asked, pulling Talen behind her. I m Mark, her ma...husband. Taker said, reaching for Talen.
It s ok Aunt Mary, he might look like a Neanderthal, but he s not so bad once you get to know him. Talen said, going to Takers side, not knowing if his powers were as strong here as in his world. Taker raised his eyebrows at her and she heard in her mind, I ll remember that mate. Talen grinned at him. Mary opened her mouth but was cut off before she started speaking when she heard Talen? Oh my God, TALEN! Before Talen could say anything, she was grabbed and hugged by her Uncle Bob.
With a growl, Taker swung his hand in the direction of the man that had grabbed his mate, knocking him down and jerking Talen behind him. NO! Talen said, getting in front of him. That s my UNCLE. My uncle Bob, Mary s husband. No man is to touch you but me. Taker hissed, his eyes on fire. Get over it. Talen said, narrowing her eyes at him and then turning she said Uncle Bob, I m sorry, this is my husband Ta...Mark. He gets jealous very easily. Just overlook him. I m not jealous, I didn t know who this hum..person was and I was trying to protect you. Taker said softly. It s ok, I would have done the same. Bob said, looking from Mark to Talen. Where have you been? Bob asked. With her father. Mary answered for Talen. Bob looked at Mary and then back at Talen and Mark. Well, I guess we need to leave Talen alone for a minute. Bob said, moving back so Talen could see the four graves, her name on one. I ll have the one with your name removed tomorrow. Bob said softly. No, I want it left there. Talen said, a catch in her voice. She walked to her brother s grave and dropped down beside it, running her hand over the smooth, cool surface of the stone. Talen felt tears in her eyes, remembering Baron s first steps, his first words, the way his eyes would light up when he laughed. I m sorry Baron, I wish I could have saved you. Talen said, running her hand over the mound of earth where his body now rested, her tears falling into the soil. Then she turned to her step-father s grave, laying to rest her grief over never seeing him again, then she looked at her mothers grave and smiled, remembering her dream, knowing that all three were safe from any harm.
Taker started to go to her, when Bob placed his hand on his arm, Let her do this alone. He said, not looking at Mark. Taker jerked his head toward Bob, not believing he was actually trying to stop him from going to his mate. It s ok Taker, I m fine, just sad. He heard Talen s voice in his mind and looked back to the graves, shock filling him, his mate was learning to use her powers, without his instruction. Just as he was at the end of his endurance with feeling Talen s pain and not holding her, she stood and walked toward him, not seeing the flowers springing up from the mounds of the three graves where she d run her hand over them.
She s just like her mother. Mary said, anger in her voice. And what, may I ask, is wrong with that? Taker growled, turning to look at her. Her father will try to use her, the way he tried to use my sister! Mary hissed at him. She is in MY care, not her fathers. Taker said. Honey, we don t know what her father will or won t do. You ve not seen him in years. Bob said, wrapping his arm around her. I don t have to see him to know... Mary trailed off, seeing Talen come up to Mark and wrap her arms around him. They watched while Taker held Talen, rubbing her back. When she pulled away she smiled at him.
Talen, we have some things at the house. You may want them. Bob said. What things? Talen asked, looking at her aunt and uncle. Let s go to the house and we ll tell you. Mary said. Talen nodded and they walked toward the car, Taker telling Bob he d follow with Talen on the bike. Bob nodded and he and Mary got into the car.
Where did we get a bike? Talen asked, seeing the Harley. I own several. Taker said, getting on and starting it. Do you know how to operate one of these things? Talen asked, looking at him. Trust me. Taker said, I do mate, I do. Talen said, sitting behind him.
They pulled in behind Bob, Taker shutting off the bike and helping Talen off the back of it. Why don t we have anything like this in Seramids? Talen whispered. Seramids is a world of magic Talen, not mechanics. I don t think cable would be bad. Talen said softly, laughing at the look on Taker s face. Get in the house mate. Taker growled, smacking her on the bottom when she walked in front of him.
Talen, this was your mother s. Mary said, sitting beside her on the couch and handing her a leather bound book. Talen opened it, seeing her mother s handwriting. ~Talen, if you have this book then it means I m no longer on Earth. Read this carefully and never use the spells herein for evil. You are very susceptible to evil Talen, more than I ever would be. You must resist the pull, for if you go to the dark side of your powers, you will destroy everyone you love. Guard this book with your life, never let it fall into the hands of Rodka, and if you must destroy this book then do so, everything herein will go into your soul. Remember my daughter, I will always be with you in spirit.~
Talen looked at Taker and said Who is Rodka? Mary s head jerked up and Taker said, Rodka is an ancient cult, following the darkness of their souls. Why? Rodka is more than a cult Ruler. Mary said, causing Talen to look at Mary. So you figured it out. Taker said with a small smile. I was just a child when Agoura left with Talen and myself. Not much younger than Talen is now. Mary said. You re a witch? Talen asked. No kiddo, I never learned the art of the craft. Your mother was a natural and when you were born, she...wanted to bring you up away from the Rodka. But..I don t understand. Talen said, looking at Mary. With a sigh, Mary said. I m normal. Not everyone on Seramids has powers. Just like on Earth, not everyone is rich, powerful, poor...there are different classes, no matter what planet you re on. The Rodka have been around since the beginning of Seramids, it is said that BUSKA, Satan himself made Seramids just for the Rodka, so they could pull humans down to our world, make them evil and then send them back to Earth. But why? Talen asked, interrupting Mary.
With a smile, Mary said, Satan wants to rule everything in the universe. How else can he destroy good but with evil? The Rodka wanted your mother, Talen. She was the first natural female to be born in over a thousand years. Our mother, your grandmother, lost her life, trying to protect your mother. That is the one act that probably kept your mother from going to the dark side, but on the other hand, that act also almost sent her over the edge. Agoura was very angry over the death of our mother. She searched for days for this book, knowing that it was somewhere on Seramids. She found it in a cave, the cave of light. She stayed in that cave for months, studying the book, working on her revenge against the Rodka. She never told me what happened while she was in that cave, but your father found her. He took her back to his home and made her his mate. She forgot all about avenging the death of our mother, she wanted to be a good wife, but she wasn t happy. When she found that she was pregnant with you, her joy was indescribable. She would write me letters, telling me how she was doing, how happy she was. Mary said, trailing off, her mind drifting. Why weren t you with her? Talen asked softly, getting up and going to Taker, sitting in his lap.
She had me in hiding from the Rodka, she knew they would use me to get to her. She was very powerful Talen, even as a child. I heard tales that when she found out she was pregnant, she was so happy that flowers grew in her path, sprouting up behind her when she walked. I remember the night you were born Talen, I was hundreds of miles away, with an aunt and I knew the minute you were born. All of Seramids was bright with the light of a full moon, stars shining where there had never been stars before. The sky went from black to pink in a matter of seconds, the old ruler was so angry, he demanded to know who the witch was that was messing with his sky. Mary smiled, the memory of her aunt saying Another witch in the world this night. So Seramids had a normal sky at one time? Talen asked.
No Talen, before you were born the sky was black day and night, with only the light of the sun to let you know when it was day. The old ruler was Rodka, very evil. He knew that a Natural had been born somewhere on Seramids and he was determined to have her, you. About three months after you were born, Agoura showed up at our aunts house, and told me that we were going on a grand adventure. I was so excited that I didn t notice that the only thing she had with her was you and the book. Our aunt left with us and we ended up here, on Earth. I ll always remember how much your mother loved it here. We were in a small town in California, living with a new invention called electricity. Your mother laughed for days, saying all she had to do was wave her hand and everyone in every corner of the universe could have electricity, she had great fun causing blackouts. She was still a child herself and she was very playful. The Rodka found us, following the trail of one of your mother s spells. They killed our aunt while we were trying to hide you. In a fit of rage, your mother did a spell that caused terrible damage to the Earth. I believe the history books called it the worst Earthquake ever, 1906. Your mother didn t realize that every spell had a reaction, especially here. BUSKA found this highly amusing and sent one of his most reliable servants to your mother, telling her that she was evil, she d caused the death of more people at one time than any of the Rodka combined. She almost turned Talen, I could sense it, see it in things she did, the light she had in her faded. Again Mary was quite, not knowing if she should tell Talen the rest.
What did she do? How did she resist them? Talen asked, her head on Taker s shoulder. Mary looked at Talen and said Talen, your mother loved you with all her heart. I know that. Talen said, not understanding. One day, just after you were learning to walk, you fell and skinned your knee. You screamed like you were dying, running to Agoura. She was reading that book and when you reached for her, she...she got so angry. She picked you up and threw you across the room, screaming at you to shut up, to not bother her any more. Luckily you landed on the bed in the corner, you had a few bumps and bruises, but...she started screaming that she wished you d never been born. She started a spell... Mary trailed off, tears filling her eyes. What kind of spell? Talen whispered. She was doing a spell to send you to hell, away from her. Mary whispered and Talen gasped, Taker tightened his arms around her.
All of a sudden, your father appeared. He demanded that she give you to him. You don t want her. He said, walking toward you. I really believe that she was going to give you to him, but when he reached for you, you screamed. You started yelling Momma! Momma! and light filled the entire house. It radiated from every pore in her being. I was holding you, trying to keep Azline from taking you and suddenly, you were gone, out of my arms into your mothers. If you ever try to take her from me again, Azline, I ll take us both to hell. your mother said and your father disappeared. After that, she hid the book, not even telling me where it was at until she married your step-father. She knew that evil would come for you one day and that s why she never taught you of your powers. She didn t want you to be susceptible to BUSKA. So how did we end up in New York? Talen asked softly. Your mother said the best place to hide from evil was under it s nose. We moved here and we ve been here ever since.
Talen was quiet for a long time, her hands gripping Taker s arm. Finally she said You don t think the fire was an accident do you? Mary shook her head no, looking Talen in the eye. BUSKA? Talen asked softly. No, Rodka. Mary said. The Rodka have been wiped out, when I took over I destroyed them all. Taker said. Not all, ruler, you missed one. Mary said softly. Who? Taker demanded. I don t know. I dreamed of your mother Talen, she told me that Rodka destroyed everything. I dreamed of her too. Talen said softly. I would know if Rodka were present in Seramids. Taker said. No you wouldn t. All I know is that this one is very old, the first Rodka that BUSKA put on Seramids. He knows of Talen and he wants her. He believes that if Talen turns, then she and she alone can conquer the entire universe at his command. She is twice as powerful as her mother could ever be. Mary said. You have to protect her from everything and everyone Ruler. If you don t, the world will die. Mary said, looking deeply into Taker s eyes. I m not going to do anything to destroy the world. Talen said, horror filling her eyes.
Mary didn t acknowledge Talen s comment, instead she said I have some things that survived the fire Talen, if you want them. What things? Talen asked. With a smile Mary said You mother placed protection spells on some things, knowing that if anything ever happened to her that you and Baron would want something to remember her by, mostly it was photo albums, books she read to you and Baron, her jewelry. I ll get them. Bob said. Allow me. Taker said. They re in the basement. Mary said and smiled when Taker waved his hand and several boxes appeared in the living room. I m never going to get use to that. Bob said, shaking his head.
Talen climbed out of Taker s lap and sat in the floor, pulling out the photo albums first. Look, this is my baby album. Talen said, smiling when Taker sat behind her. I was 3 here, look at my hair! Talen said, turning the page and then saying This is me, mom, and dad. Your mother was very beautiful. Taker said. Yes she was. I always wished I looked just like her. Talen said softly. You do look like her. Mirror images of each other. Taker said. No, she was always beautiful. Even when she got out of bed in the morning she was beautiful while my hair sticks out all over the place. Talen said with a smile. You are very beautiful in the mornings mate. Taker said, lifting Talen s long hair and kissing the back of her neck. You re just saying that. Talen said. Nope, I could never lie to you Talen, just as you could never lie to me. Taker said.
LOOK! This was when I was in the drama club. Talen said, pointing at a picture of her in 6th grade, a crown on her head. See even then everyone knew I was a queen. Taker threw his head back and laughed, squeezing her to him. You do make me happy mate, I never know what is going to come out of your mouth next. He said. Are you saying I m not your queen? Talen asked with a huff.
How old were you here? Taker asked, pointing to a picture and ignoring her question. 10. That was taken the day Baron was born. Talen whispered. I loved him so much. She said. I know you did mate. I feel it. Taker said. They looked at the rest of the pictures in her album and then she picked up Baron s, after finishing that one, they looked at the family album and then her mother s wedding album. How could she marry my step-dad if my dad was her mate? Talen asked. I don t know. Taker said. I couldn t imagine not being with you everyday. I don t know how she did it, how he did it. Talen said. That is something you ll have to ask your father. Taker said.
How about we go out and have some dinner, celebrate your marriage? Bob asked, walking into the room. That would be great! Talen said, jumping out of the floor and hugging Bob. She will never learn to ask you first ruler. Get used to it. Mary said softly, seeing the look on Takers face. Has she always been like this? Taker muttered. What? Bull headed, impulsive, thinking with her heart instead of her head and wanting to have her way all the time? Mary asked with a smile. Taker nodded and Mary said Since the day of her birth. I don t suppose her mother ever tried to teach her of our ways? Taker asked. Actually she did, she told Talen that one day her mate would come for her and she had to obey him in the ways of our people. Mary said, remembering the day clearly. So what happened? Taker asked. With a chuckle, Mary said Talen looked right at Agoura and said HE can do as HE is told by ME. I will NOT do what a MAN tells me to do. then she turned and walked off, muttering something about men thinking they ruled the world when it was a woman that brought them all here. I think that maybe Agoura let Talen have her way a little too much. She should have exerted more control over her. I think she should have busted her ass. Taker growled. Mary laughed, shaking her head she said If you ever feel brave enough to try ruler, I d like to see it.
We re going to GREG S! Talen said with a squeal, running over and jumping into Taker s arms. Greg s? Taker asked. It s a hot new restaurant that s impossible to get in on weekends, but since this is a weekday, we shouldn t have a problem getting in. Bob said. They have the BEST Italian food. Talen said, getting out of Taker s arms. We have to change clothes though. Talen said, looking at the jeans and t-shirts they were wearing. What would you like to wear, mate? Taker asked. This. Talen said, waving her hand. I don t think so. Taker said, looking at the short black dress. You ll wear this. He waved his hand and the black dress went from short to long. YUCK. This is a grandma dress. Talen said, changing the dress back the way she liked it. It s too short. Taker growled, making it hang past her knees. It s too long. Talen growled back, making it short. That is barely covering your ass. Taker yelled, making the skirt longer. Look, I ll wear what I want to wear. I don t care if you like it or not. Talen yelled back. Why not compromise? Mary said, having seen this fight between Agoura and her husband countless times.
Compromise to him is getting HIS way. Talen said. How about keeping it short, but making it a little longer than it is now. Mary said. I want it past her knees. Taker said. How about 2 inches over her knees. Mary said. Only if she wears knee boots. Taker said, waving his hand and Talen looked down, seeing knee high leather boots. I like these. She said, lifting one foot and looking at the boots. 2 inches, no more. Taker said, watching the skirt lengthen. Fine. Talen said, but you re wearing this. She waved her hand and he looked, groaning when he saw the silk suit. Mate. He started but Talen cut him off with I can always make this skirt shorter. Taker narrowed his eyes at her but didn t change his clothes. Talen smiled and walked over to him, wrapping her arms around him, she whispered, You look incredible.
How about a picture of you two? Bob said, holding up his camera. Ok. Talen said, turning in Takers arms, leaning against his chest, she said You better smile too. Taker grinned and Bob took the picture. How will I let you know when it s been developed? Bob asked. We ll be coming back every once in a while. Talen said, missing the look on Taker s face. They left for Greg s, Talen enjoying being with her family again.
She s back on earth. The being said, looking into a crystal wall, seeing Talen and Taker. We ve found her weakness. Another being said. He is her weakness, killing her family will only anger her, not make her turn. The oldest, most evil of the three hissed. The key to her turning to the Rodka is him. So we kill him. The youngest being said. NO YOU FOOL! The oldest yelled, it s voice bouncing off the walls. If you kill him, she dies also. A mate can t live if the other dies. Had she not been mated, it would not have hurt her to kill him, only dimmed the light inside her. Since he mated her, we now have to turn him. She will follow. We now need to find a way to make him angry, to make him want to turn. What about his brother? The youngest asked. It might work, the youngest has not mated yet. Having Taker kill his youngest brother could be the key to his turning. The oldest said. All three nodded and faded away.
Taker and Talen appeared in the great hall, boxes surrounding them. My lord. Your warlocks are here with a report, from the outer region. Paul said, standing behind them. Talen jumped and turned, seeing Paul walk off. Why the hell does he keep doing that? Talen asked, her heart beating a mile a minute. What? Taker asked. Knowing where we are and then being behind us. I hate that, he scares the shit out of me when he does that. Talen said. Paul has been with me a long time mate, he knows how to link his mind with mine. Talen rolled her eyes and said He s going to scare me to death one day. Taker laughed and said Paul would never hurt you. Whatever. Talen said. I must go mate, I ll summon you when I m done. Taker said, turning and walking down the hall, his silk suit transforming into his robes.
